Working on some lighting stuff for the ZJ. I took the roof mounted lights off, because I'm adding clearance lights. I think they will look pretty cool. I moved the roff lights down to the front bumper. That was todays project.
Used some flat punched steel galvanized steel and made a mount:

I realize it doesnt look that great, but its behind the bumper cover, so I dont care.
The diagonal slides behind the header panel mount and is held in by the same bolt.

Light mounts, little angle brackets I made:

both lights mounted:

Front clip reassembled:

Im not sure why the inner ones look darker than the outer ones. I know they are not mounted straight, I need to adjust them still.

The outer lights are wired to the factory fog light switch, and the I wired the inners to a switch on my switch panel.

My dad took the ZJ to work with him today and had his paint guy work on it. he repainted the rear louvers (paint was faded and flaking off) and repainted the rear bumper (had a bunch of nicks and a big scratch/dent where i think the PO backe it into a trailer tounge trying to hook up). He also did something else that I think is really badass, but you'll have to wait for the pictures to see what it is

pick yer part got a new ZJ yesterday so i went today to check it out. it was a 94 laredo 4.0. got another working door lock actuator, so now all of mine work. might grab the front axle from it as well since it has the u joint yoke. i dont want to mess with setting the pinion preload when i swap driveshafts, and buying the axle will be cheaper than paying a shop to do it, plus ive heard horror stories of shops not doing it right.

my auto teacher is going to be at school saturday so im gonna take the jeep in and pull the tranny. need to replace the front pump seal, hopefully that fixes my massive trans leak. (already replaced pan gasket and sealed with RTV, the fluid is coming out from between the inspection cover and the bell housing.) hopefully will have a friend take pictures for me so if that happens ill post them here.

Id cover the gold up with black to complete the look.
Dont go over to the ZJ section, I think its really convenient to have everyone over here. The build threads get lost over in the ZJ section, they blend in with every other boring repair thread.

Got the trans most of the way in today. its all bolted up, just working on getting the dipstick tube lined up right and getting the CPS in. then it SHOULD be easy from there, just the cooler lines, shift and tv cables, nss and solenoid connectors, and pop the tcase back in

trans is completly in and the jeep is back where it belongs, in my driveway! i was going to pull the trans pan before i took the trans out, but after i had already loosened it most of the way, my dad told me to leave it. so it leaks now. ill drop it sometime in the next couple weeks. hopefully ill get enough cash together to buy the u jointed front axle (dont want to mess with swapping yokes, just gonna get an axle housing with the gears installed and swap everything over.
