I went back to the clay pits yesterday and finally conquered an obstacle I've tried and failed once before. I tried it about 8 times and wasnt getting any where so i backed off and let my friend in a cj on 35s try. He did it first try without hesitation then turned around and did it again so i could get a video. After watching him i new i had to try another angle, and got it.

I just got back from a 3 day wheeling trip. 2 of the days were spent on a trail that I've heard about but nobody i ever talk to seems to know anything about, even the locals. I finally talk to a guy that had been to it and said it was one of the best trails he had been on with his heavily built toyota. He said he wouldn't try it this time of year. We thought we would just find the trail head and turn around. Long story short we came across several downed trees with no chain saw, we stacked trees and swung our axes for hours and got to the best trail i have been down. Not as long but much more challenging than the rubicon. Beautiful scenery also. Most of the trail we ran in the dark while trying to find a campsite so we only have pics of the biggining and end. But we all had to winch more than once and everybody got body damage, even the 2 TJs that were with us. One guy broke his chromoly axle and locker and one guy slashed a tire. Then we got lost on the way home and had to axe and winch more trees. It was a great trip.

This is pucker point, theres a 20-30ft drop on the other side of that log that my passenger tire is on. My wife volunteered to drive so i took pics. She drove the first part of the trail all the way to bear lake.

We axed this oak, and then i tried to drive on it and break it, but it wouldn't budge. We had to twist it with a winch. We spend 4-5 hrs moving these 2 logs without a saw. We got some honey from the beehive though.[URL=http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/Ez_pen/media/PC016625.jpg.html][/URL

I think this little trail is called snowball. Its a short technical rocky steep climb and then steep rocky drop back in to meet the rest of the trail. I needed both lockers on to make it, so it was challenging and lots of fun.

I miss wheeling out west, just not that kind of stuff this way..

Yea it was a blast, everything went wrong and it was still great. I wish we were able to get more pictures or video of the really tough stuff.

More expensive to build. Bigger. Heavier. Less ground clearance when done. Less aftermarket support. Unibody. Etc.

Thanks north50. Yea pretty much all that dillonjm said. I enjoy mine and am glad i have it. I sleep in it on cold camping nights and it fits the kids plus all our gear. I may even do some snow camping in it this season.
