Jeep is back home, it seems to behave much better on the gas I get here at home, weird. Here are some pics from the recent snow that prevented Jeep work for a couple days:

And another pic of my quad taillight mod, this is a good pic to show brightness:

The PO (grandma) was really messy and my shift gate blinds were sticking. Yeugh:

Then I failed emissions because the monitors weren't ready yet @!#$%^. Gotta do another drive cycle

While waiting for engine to cool I looked around for potential P0456 causes and found this little sucker:

Replaced for free with scrap hose from Vautozone

My puppy couldnt help but watch me working on the Jeep. Aw

And after the shift gates I decided it was time to shampoo the interior. Smells great and so much cleaner.

Also conditioned the leather and armor-alld the dash and door panels. Looks and smells great inside my WJ now!

Wanna come do my Jeep? The dog is a nice touch.

I like the snow out there. I bet you've been having fun. What's next on the agenda though, any major mods/ugprades?

Haha Texas, tad bit of a drive lol! My dog loves watching me work the Jeep, normally I'd let her out but she'd just jump in and ruin the shampoo job haha.

Snow has been pretty good but its horrible when you want to do work on your Jeep. Cold, can't kneel on the ground. Also snow means salt which means corrosion on Jeep . Its a neverending battle

Thanks ghost, yours looks nice as well!

Got myself some poser HDR shots the other day. Lift is going on right when I get home for the summer, I've decided its too low. I'm basically just gunna make it upcountry and run like that for a while while I decide if I'm going to trade up for a v8 /overland. I also still have to get my transcase skid on, its sitting at home right next to the lift.

Thats cute. I wish I had a dog that was "mine" that I took care of and it respected me. :/ My boxers are not the smartest dogs.

Well if you wanna be technical shes not all my dog, she belongs to the whole family. Goldens are really smart and loyal but they're very dependent on their owners. She does not like to be alone and have to entertain herself, her life revolves around interacting with humans. If she does something wrong you look her in the eyes sternly and her head and tail will drop like a brick.

I really want to shout out a bunch of swears right now but mods wouldnt like that... my P0456 is back for the third time... its had a p0456 light since I got it in December. First time I replaced the gas cap and it didnt come back for 2 weeks. Second time it showed up I found a bad linking hose next to the test port. Replaced. Evap monitor ran and I passed emissions and everything seemed fine. Its been roughly 3 weeks and just today when it was warm out my check engine light came on as I started the Jeep. P0456... Dammit. Any advice? (stupid emissions jerkheads wont let anything slide)

On a happier note I picked up a Mopar receiver hitch today from a craigslist ad. Its kinda rusty so for now I'm going to wire brush and rustoleum it then when I get home for the summer have it sanded/blasted down clean, Por-15 it, and give it several coats of paint. I also do not have the wiring or the bezel for it. My dremel is back at home so Im going to have to improvise. For wiring I'm going to get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012RJZKQ?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&path=%2Fgp%2Fproduct%2FB0012RJZKQ&ref_=_pfdpb&useRedirectOnSuccess=1&*entries*=0and at home I have a 7-pin socket will fit right into factory bracket so I will wire that up when I get back.

Found this..

Usually this P0456 code is caused by an incorrect or faulty gas cap. Filling the fuel tank with the engine running could conceivable cause this code as well or if the cap wasn't properly tightened. Any of the following could also be the cause:

A small leak in any of the EVAP hoses or fuel tank hoses
A small leak in the purge valve or vent valve
The EVAP Canister may be leaking

Hope that helps. But I'm sure it doesnt..

Nah every little bit helps. P0456 is probably the most difficult one to trace down. Its basically saying: "you have a small leak in your evap system somewhere, good luck finding it. Meanwhile I'm going to throw on this check engine light"

I have a new cap and I havent filled up for a week so I doubt its the cap. Judging that one of the hose segments was destroyed for no reason (pic earlier on the page) I'm going to trace down every friggin line and look for cracks. Then I'll move on to the evap canister because that seems to do it for many. Then I'll check the valves. In the end I'll probably end up replacing the whole damn evap system piece by piece knowing my luck . Its not high priority right now because I have my sticker, but I hate seeing that light on.

Things I have to do:

Inspect EVAP system
Pull Junction block and fix my daytime running light screwup
Cut hole in lower bumper for new hitch
Wire brush and blast the hitch real quick with rustoleum as a temporary solution
Mount hitch up and get something together for wiring

Tried to install my trailer hitch... Annnnd proceeded to fail epically. First I tried unbolting the old one. The front and back bolts on the drivers side were hard to break free but came right out once they were. Unfortunately while cranking on the middle bolt the head snapped off, there is a little bit of the bolt still sticking out. I cursed a bit and went on to the next side. I got the front one off.. Then snapped the head off the middle one (and cursed some more because it broke off flush into the hole) and then the back bolt I couldn't get because it was 18mm for whatevr reason and all the other ones had been 3/4". So its been soaking and hopefully I don't break the last bolt. I'm okay temporarily attaching it with just 4 bolts and not towing anything more than a dolly until I can find a way to get those middle bolts out. I ordered my wiring harness and I'm going to try and pick up a 7-pin socket from a junkyard to make it factory. I also wire brushed, and sprayed rust converter on it. Pic:

I also tried getting my rear bumper off and failed epically. I cut the rivets in the wheel wells and pulled the others and torx screws under the liftgate lip. I also wrenched on the two 10mm screw bolt thingys and tried to get the bumper off, again failing epically I couldn't figure it out

Alright it was a complete pain in the butt and a half but I finally got the hitch on. Today was a much better day, everything had been soaking in PB and came right out. The two broken off bolts are there and will remain there until I get home lol. The good news is I dont have to tow a u-haul with only 2 bolts on each side. Turns out theres an extra bolt hole in the front that I noticed the uhaul guys didnt put on, must have been too lazy to do it. All I need to do is get a bolt about half as short as the ones I have now and I'll have 3 bolts in. I used some washers and misc hardware to space everything perfectly and its solid as a rock. I painted it a couple coats with flat black. Now it looks even better than the pic above. Then I finally figured out how to get the rear bumper off (just had to stop being a puss and yank on it). My harbor freight dremel couldnt do anything (kept dying out under any pressure) so I cut the outline for the bezel creatively. Scored it with my nice new Craftsman utility knife (thanks mom!) and then used a cerrated rigging knife to saw through it. I used a soldering iron around the edges to make sure it stayed clean. Yes, it was completely ghetto but I was working out of a parking lot without all my good tools. At the end the dremel was handy for lightly sanding the edges to smooth it all out. IMO it looks great, not as bad as I thought without the bezel. Eventually going to order the bezel once I have extra cash though. For the wiring I just have a hopkins 7-pin (bolted right up despite my doubts) but I might eventually get a factory socket. My wiring harness is in the mail and I'll just chop it up and splice it to fit this one. Yay! Now for some pics.

Buh-bye old structurally compromised U-haul hitch:

Bumper off, makes the rear end of the WJ feel much taller:

And everything back together:

Closer view of my cut:

^dont hate haha I had to do this with what essentially was a bagel knife.

PS thanks Akro I'll have to make some more, they turned out better than I had expected.
