If I have to plate the unibody, I might as well swap axles at the same time. I hear 37's are the new 35's...

Have you seen John bolders Wj? Like GSW 2010 he bounced on a ledge and landed on his sliders or his frame stiffeners and bent his whole jeep. It was crazy! His back door shut about 1-2" higher then before...

LOL Man! It's moments like that when you begin to wonder about the unibody design... I mean, unibody has its benefits, but sometimes it does not. I think this calls for some links to pics, no?

I'll look and see if any made it online.

Edit,
Here's him talking bout it, I guess it was 2011.
http://mallcrawlin.com/forum/showthr...l=1#post318891

I saw it in Moab but haven't seen/found pics.

Here is a pic of Z's WK that tweaked a little

image-4284948850.jpg

If you look all over mallcrawlin.com there are lots of guys with door alignment issues.. The February TOTM was about frame stiffening.. Lots of good info in that thread!

I like what Chris just did with his skid plate tho. Looks great!

A guy named KW tweaked his ZJ the same way at GSW 2012 on Rose Garden Hill. I am suprised the rear drivers door would stay shut. He had to drive it back to WY.

Ya John said he had to open his rear doors before he could open his front. Crazy.

But a frame vehicle will twist as well, I'm not saying one is hands down better.. Just interesting. Seems its way better to prevent then try and fix.

That is crazy. Thanks for the link/pic. I've always liked unibody Jeeps. I miss mine to this day. It does feel a bit more sturdy/solid driving a body on frame 4Runner though. It's definitely a more solid vehicle than the WK I was considering buying. Though I really did want that Overland. It just wasn't right. It wasn't in good shape, and with QDII and a Jeep drivetrain, you don't want any funky feelings about it prior to purchase. I would love to really test out this 4Runner, but I owe too darn much, and their true ground clearance is more like ~7" vs the stated 9.1". I've measured. I really do wonder about the strength vs my old ZJ's unibody. Maybe I just didn't wheel the Jeep rough enough!

The WJ's seem more rigid when wheeling, to me anyways. If I parked the Jeep when articulated, my ZJ doors were slightly off and felt like they didn't want to shut.

I remember seeing John tweak his unibody, he rammed that ledge pretty good but I didn't expect to see unibody damage.

Ya I agree the WJ's are a lot more rigid then zj/xj's, I never had an issue with doors on mine.

Talk about a thread derail. Is this forum about Jeeps, or should we start chatting about beer and music...
