Pressed the old upper and lower ball joints out tonight. Next step is to clean the 10 years of road grime and gear oil off!

That upper joint looks sweet! Does it just press in with a ball joint press? If you end up needing a currie JJ tool for anything, LMK. I have one in my toolbox.

Yep! Goes in with a ball joint press. It was $50 for the JJ, but IRO sells something similar for under $40. Thought I'd stay with the tried and true...

Did you say VJJ?

$50 for two VJJ's? CE-112M the part number for the WJ D30?

$50 for one Currie Johnny Joint, I have IRO's radius arms. That is the part number on the box for the JJ with a 7/16" bolt. It is their 2" JJ turned down to the right diameter to press into the cast eye on the centersection. Currie also offers the joint with an optional 1/2" diameter bolt.

Chris,
hey just an FYI, when I built my Dana 30 last year, I sleeved it too, and wanted to install a JJ for my IRO long arms. Here becomes the problem. The JJ comes in either a 7/16" or 1/2" through bolt size. I chose the 7/16" as Currie indicates it matches a stock TJ, XJ, even WJ upper control arm bolt size. Not so fast. The upper control arm axle side bolt is 10 mm, which coverted to standard = .3937 inches. A 7/16" bolt = .4375 inches. You would think that 0.0438 inches is nothing, however it is enough to prevent the bolt from going through the IRO adjuster sleeve. Simple answer, drill it out, but the sleeve has that curver arch that is tough to clearance out without proper tools. I tried with a dremel to tackle that but found myself making more of a mess that cleanly clearancing it out. Have you tried it? Let me know how it goes. Even though I now have Clayton arms and a swapped in JK 44, I am always curious how people can accomodate that size difference. Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks for the heads up Kevin. I measured the stock bushing ID just shy of 0.4" and figured I'd have to open the IRO adjustment bracket with a die grinder. I am not changing lift height, so I'll just open the area where the bolt currently sits. I'll take some pictures so you see what solution I come up with. I have no idea how you would accomodate the 1/2" bolt using the IRO system, but I see that some WJ owners have bought...

Chris,
no worries, I had tried the dremel with a carbide tip and could not cleanly open up both sides of the arch plate and the slot in the arm itself. I am beyond anal though and wanted future adjustablitlity. I had even called Currie and asked them if they could make a 10mm bolt that is through drilled for the grease but they kindly said no. I am running both upper Currie JJs on my JK front end and love them.

The sleeves are welded in and the housing is washed and ready for some POR 15.

Two coats of POR 15, Currie JJ pressed in to replace the upper CA bushing, all four ball joints installed and the spindles mocked in place. Next step is to pull the current D30 out from under the Jeep and swap ring and pinion to the Vari-Lok carrier.

Did you remove the other upper mount? This cause the IRO only has one upper arm?
