I like the toupe cladding with the tan paint. As much as I drag my front and rear bumpers on the trail, the black paint wouldn't stand a chance. I wish the door handles and mirrors matched

Try one of the silver or gray monstaliners. Order some chip samples and see if one matches your boy color. My brother just got some different silver chips for his silverado.

What I thought was the locker acting weird actually turned out to be the tc. I put the 247 back in and the problem is gone. There is now almost no gear/bearing noise which makes me feel a lot better about my gear install. I guess I'll be rebuilding the 242 before June. I am expecting to find a toasted input bearing.

That sucks it went out! At least it happened now than on the trail. Are you going to do a full rebuild, chain and all?

He said it worked, but it was also on a rig with d60/sterling, so it probably didn't see any street time.

I am not sure what I will do until I tear it down. The chain and sprockets looked great when I split the case after I bought it. I'll have to see what kind of debris (if any) is in the bottom of the case now. Don't worry, it will be ready to give Katie a run for her money in June

I'm counting on it! I'm going to be a few steps behind your for a while. I can't make up my mind on how I want to do my build... Atlas II, Currie F9 axles, 37's on Spyderlocks, Clayton LA's, yada yada... all on the list, but I don't know if I'm ready to pull the trigger. I may just sell Katie and buy a skate board. I just don't know. So in the mean time, I'm going to closely follow your build thread and imagine that it is my own Keep up the good work, Chris! I'll see you in a month!

Found the culprit of the noise in my np242. The outer race of the input bearing is in the middle of a fatigue failure. I don't know if it is caused by miles or if it had been ran low on fluid at one time. Everything else looks good, so I am just going to rebearing the case.

Just for fun I thought I would scrub the case in the parts washer and paint. It should look pretty when it's done.

The two case halves are soaking overnight.

Do you have a parts washer in your garage?

My parts washer was made by GE...but Emmy is starting to give me wierd looks when I run Jeep parts through the dish washer.

I do have a parts washer. It's getting a lot of use now between the Jeep and Goldwing project. I thought about a small benchtop blast cabinet, but the big one at work is working out quite nicely.
