Chrystler refuses ZJ recalls.

See news article here:

http://www.money.cnn.com/2013/06/04/...ight&hpt=hp_t2

Apparently the gas tanks can't hold up to catastrophic, high speed impacts. Go figure.

I think it would be cool to get a brand new oem skid plate on someone else's dime, but at the same time I have to agree with chysler is saying that the fuel tank location does not pose any more of a threat than other similar models. Imho.

Hell skid plate of not, you hit a zj hard enough the tank will still rupture

Dana 35c behind a 242, behind an AW-4, behind a 4.0L Inline Six sitting over a Dana 30, all turning stock 215/75/15 tires and moving a 93 Grand Cherokee to places your truck only dreams of.

same here.
Will probably track down a gas tank skid plate from the junk yard, keep a recovery shackle in my tow hitch, and cross my fingers if a ford taurus rear ends me at 80mph while I am at a dead stop.

If a Lamborghini spears my tank while breaking the ground speed record I would be disappointed not to burn alive.

Out of how many vehicles affected (2.7 million) only 237 blew up. I'll take my chances.

the last thing i'd be worried about would be a fire at that point. well. you might have to pry that gas tank out of your *** because thats where it would end up. either that or the other cars engine might be that close too.....

decades later they deem it unsafe........... crazy.

whats next, in a 2 decades will they deem V8 motors 'fuel inefficient'?

jeeze. is it me or is the world getting stoopider every day?

Maybe they'll recall all the 4.0's and 5.2's and retrofit them with 5.9's so that there's less fuel in the tank at the time of impact.

Chances are the Lamborghini would be on fire before it hit you anyways.

Also, search, noob.

When the same thing has been posted multiple times within several hours, sure why not?
