Cheated by a fellow Jeeper (Rockford, Illinois).

I realize getting money back is one thing. But how does one throw a fellow Jeeper under the bus? After all, if one is cheated & the person quietly goes through PayPal to reclaim their money, how does a fellow Jeep protect other fellow Jeepers from the bad apple?

I have called the fellow Jeepers retirement aged mom, his sister at work, I've called his union hall, along with afew other phone calls to people who know this character.

This fellow Jeeper has made several empty promises to fulfill their obligation to the sales transaction. This has been going on since January 9th.

I think it is time to post easily obtained public information about this character.

The VERY first thing you should do is file a police report.
Why?
It protects you in the event of him and his relatives acussing you of stalking.
Been there done that.

It is probably appreciated that you are giving this "Jeeper" grace by not calling the authorities.
I imagine that when you call, the parties on the other end of the line are not truly surprised.

However, you need to immediately remove your impression that they have any influence on whether you get "made whole."
Did they make the contract with you ?
Did they agree to a "garuntor" role ?
This is not the days of old where a call from your Mother or Father sparked immediate action.

This is an arrangement between you and someone else.
If you feel that you have been defrauded, call the authorities and make it legal.

Starting the legal process after giving them 90 days to come clean is pretty fair.
Follow up the police report with a phone call to the assigned detective / prosecutor.

Additionally, creating a record of this not only protects you ... It can protect future potentials.
The past and current behaviors are the best predictors of the future behaviors.
You are probably not the first.

It sounds like OP bought something from "this character" and gave him the money but didn't get the product. Either way, not sure why OP is bugging everybody and their uncle about this guy instead of doing the intelligent thing and talking to the police. Also not sure why this is in the Grand Cherokee General Discussion forum.
