Can I remove front Ujoints and still drive?

I've got a lot of front end noise and sounds like bearing grind from the
front wheel areas. After having the rear end rebuilt I can't quite afford to have
the front end and transfer case worked on. Can I just remove the U-joints of
the front wheels and the shaft from the transfer case and not hurt anything?

You can remove the front drive shaft and drive like that, it won't hurt anything.
