Brazilian WJ Project

2 Attachment(s)
I was borned and lives in Sao Paulo, SP, Brazil and my brother and I always be off road enthusiasts...my brother has a 5" lifted ford ranger and ran 35" BF Mud...
although enthusiasts, my first 4x4 was when I bought in 2010 a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero Pinin...along one year, I made several upgrades, but always something was missing...so, in the beginning of this year, we (my brother and I) started talking about more upgrades, but the Pinin is limited, 4" and and 32" is the maximum allowed by the car and my pocket...more than this is necessary to rebuilt the whole suspension and car structure...

due to this limitation, the jeep idea began...we have thousands of XJ, WJ and WK here in Brazil, the great majority of then are bullet proof - it is a really expensive car here...a brand new grand cherokee limited worth something like US$100,000 - Brazilian Reais $205,000.

an used one, 1998 XJ worth as much as the 2000 WJ, but this one has much more comfort, technology, engine etc..so, let's go my jeep story and the project I am intending to execute...last july/2012, I had a 2000 WJ Grand Cherokee Limited V8 4.7L as shown in the picshereunder that were taken 3 days after purchased.

I searched some lift kits for the WJ, but my mechanic said that one of the best known is rough country and as my project is to run 35" or 37" tires, he indicated the 6,5" long arm lift kit with Bilstein 5000 series...I added safari snorkel as the first upgrades.

thus this is the very beginning and first upgrades of the off road WJ unnamed yet.

I am planning to run first 31" (245/75 R16) BF Mud tires, then I'll get steel whinch bumper and so on...

but here we have high cost and difficulty to upgrade a jeep or any other 4x4 car, because we have few parts, few manufacturers and is very expensive to import parts. just for example...the lift kit and snorkel I imported from US cost around US$ 8,000 (brazilian reais $16,000), shipping and taxes included. iceland bumper, for example, should come for US$ 3,000 (brazilian reais $6,000)

we are moving on with our project and any comments or suggestions will be great :)

My uncle was just visiting us from Brazil, I loved it there. Good luck with the build, I know getting stuff imported etc can be a pain in the ***. That's why the family comes here to buy stuff to take back!
