I like the KRC 210x or 210b cams a lot. My goal with a cam would not be to improve low end torque, but more mid range to upper rpm. I like to "listen to my exhaust" sometimes on the streets that and a 5.9 has tons of low end torque, add in 4.56 gears.. I don't really need to worry about low end, I'm good there.
One guy on speedfreaks put a 210b in his 5.9 (only had a few mods - no SCT tuner). Lost no low end torque, but ran like a raped pig at higher rpms. Sounds like loads of fun to me.

wish I knew what cam this was, sounds awesome
and of course the krc 210x

So today I was removing the old head gasket material on the engine block side.. I was using a razor knife, plastic scraper, and a drill with a mini wirewheel attachment (at lower speeds). I had shop towels inserted into the cylinder bores to block and major debris from entering, but eventually I need to clean out the bores and used an air gun attachment on my air compressor to blow out said debris. These cylinder walls are in great shape and I would hate for some dust to get caught between the pistons and the wall and end up scoring the cylinder wall surface. Is there any further steps I should take to clean out the bores? I hit them with air until no visible flakes of debris were in there numerous times thinking I would be ok. But a after doing some reading I am getting a little worried that I could have just totally screwed myself over and created more work for myself, or am I just being paranoid?

My next step?
powerwash this pig!
Cool shot of my long arms..
oh and here are both of my ZJ 46re's
also, these came in the mail
I am going to Florida on monday for a week so nothing will be going on til I get back obviously. But once I get back all hell is breaking loose and I am going to clean this thing, POR15 the engine bay and tranny tunnel. Paint up the 5.9 block, put it back together. Then gotta mess around with the brakelines to make them work with the 5.9 ABS pump. Then put it all back together

Hey guys, I will be making a big update in a day or two with loads of pictures. A LOT has happened in the last two months.....The zj is coming along very well and within 2 weeks or so of being ready. On top of that, I think I will be buying a particular platinum 5.9 that is on this forum (although he has not updated his thread in awhile). Which niner will it be? Stay tuned

Alright guys, time for a big update. So we went to Florida and on the way back my gf's Honda Civic blew its engine on a mountain at the Tennessee and Kentucky border. We towed it home and within about 2 weeks I swapped another engine into it. Needless to say, that cut into some Jeep time. Then on the night of July 4th a drunk 80 year old man rearended my tahoe that was parked on a neighborhood straight. Long story short it totaled out my Tahoe and now I have a new jeep, which I will get to soon
Anyways, heres some progress pics of the ZJ build.

Block head gasket surface cleaned

headgasket

Cylinder heads installed

Then the timing cover went on after being powdercoated black
Engine was also painted with POR Engine Enamel

valve cover gaskets on

Mopar crankshaft position sensor installed

Mopar water pump installed

gaskets gasket gaskets

valve covers on
Oil pan back onn

and the thorleys
Then it was time to do a tranny breather extension mod.

Pop the pump cover off the tranny with a slide hammer

doing it to both my 46re's

drill a hole

tap it

1/4" NPT 90* fitting with a 3/8" barbed end

3/8" ID hose installed

finished off with a hose clamp

Then I had some parts come in the mail.

AC Accumulator

5.9 Discharge AC line.. $160 from wholesalemopar.com....
Then it came time for a lot of cleaning and painting.

spray paint the inside of the firewall.. no bare metal allowed
Then I POR15'd the body where the gas tank mounts
The underbody and tranny tunnel
and the wheel wells
Then the engine got installed

mmmmmm clean
And the engine bay wiring harness went in
Then it was time to work on the intake manifold.

painted up with POR engine enamel, 50mm throttle body installed, 180* Jet Performance thermostat, new water outlet neck installed, etc

Then on went the Hughes plenum plate

wrapped and insulated fuel rails

fuel rails installed

intake manifold installed
Then I moved onto finishing up the AC/heater box.

With the old foam tape....
Bought some of this
ended up with this
Installed
Then the dash went back on which I guess I dont have a pic of. I then reconnected all the wires, and now all the different harnesses are hooked up. I then installed a battery and was able to roll the windows up and down. Guess I did something right
So thats where I am at with the zj build, its been a lot of work.
So, for the niner I got...
wait for it....
wait for it....
Boom. Some of you might recognize it

Thanks for the compliments guys.
And yes it is Roger's old niner. Its got 187,600 miles on it. DT headers, 3" exhaust with a Super 44, procomp mx6 shocks, upcountry springs with 1/2" spacers, Hotchkis rear sway bar, RB1 Navigation system from a WJ, K&N, Kolak Ignition upgrade, Ecode headlight housings, etc. I plan to keep it basically how it is. But I did just swap in a Flowmaster super 44 and tailpipe yesterday for the magnaflow muffler that was on there. That and I am going to get ahold of the 5.9 rims with 31" metric equivalent General Grabber AT's from the slate 5.9 that I parted out (my friend bought the rims from it).
Ill get some pics of it up tonight or tomorrow for you guys
