I concur. Definitely too deep. I'd start by removing about .015" from the pinion shims.

nah its perfect. if i removed any more pinion shims it was way too shallow

coast doesnt matter nearly as much as drive

crush sleeve crushed, seal installed. there was a little bit of drama and a moment where i held my breath. but i kicked it in the *** and told it to efff off lol. just gotta reinstall the carrier, spider gears (will put the aussie back in after the first gear oil change - 500 miles), cover, and paint the SOB.

was gonna work on the hp30 tomorrow, but it appears that roger is coming to town to buy his new zj. i get the feeling that might take a good portion of the day up.

****s getting done!

edit: this is how you crush a crush sleeve btw. can be found in the john lamb bible of (RE)building a zj

Did the Chucks help you out a bunch with starting the crush sleeve?

You wouldn't happen to remember the part # for the lock ring by the output seal of the 242 would you? Mine is warped and I'm going through output seals like underwear.

What I'm talking about:

Throw the crush sleeve in a press and get it started that way. Much less screwing around.
