Which do you like better, the kappas or references?

If you can afford it, get the kappas. Much better frequency response at the upper and lower limits of the speakers. The reference speakers just didn't have the low end or high frequency detail of the kappas.

Also running the 10" kappa sub in a sealed box to spec. It hits as hard enough being in a small convertible.

Using an eclipse cd7000 head unit.

The grand just has some middle of the road stuff. Front polk components and hifonics atlas 12's in the back.

'97 zj 5.2, some stuff, some other suff, and some things that even work sometimes.

Wow, looks like you've got some work ahead of you, and by the looks of it, seems like that interior is a little overdue for a good cleaning, haha. Some good stuff to use on pretty much everything, even after steam cleaning, is Simple Green, you can get it cheap at wal mart, it sprays on like a foam, and then can be wiped and vacuumed up, and cleans EVERYTHING, stains, smells, stuck on stuff, everything, great stuff, and it leaves a nice scent after. Used it in the interior teardown in my dads ZJ, and he's a heavy smoker, and before, it reeked like smoke, and after, it smelt clean and fresh, you'd have never known it was a smokers car. a day or two later, and he made sure to change that... But anyways, give it a try, it works wonders.

I'm also due for a stereo system update. I used to build and install custom stereos for friends and customers, and I ALWAYS used to have a top notch system, but when I got the grand, I got so carried away with exterior mods, I forgot about the sound. But now I'm happy with the outside, my focus is back to the sound system, and it's time foran upgrade. It's been so long since I've done installing and working with systems, I've lost touch with what's the newest, most powerful, and best sounding equipment. I used to run a lot of kicker products, a lot of infinity, and a lot of kenwood stuff, and with my brand experience, they were usually the top three, and for the more budget minded shopper, pioneer was the way to go. I think next, after a good bit of research, and talking to the guys over at Crutchfield to help update me, I think I'm going to go with a full infinity kappa setup, although keeping my Kenwood headunit, but all Infinity kappas in the doors, and 2 12" Infinity Kappa subs and amp. I'm not looking forward to the price, but I am looking forward to the sound.

And let me know what you think of that power acoustic sub, I always like to learn about new products I've never heard, or heard of.

Good luck with all the cleaning!

Derek

iv heard the power acoustics sub before (was my friends old sub), and for a little 10" the thing hit pretty hard. definitely was impressed and will be pleased with it in my zj!

BTW, that two tone actually looks pretty good. You should borrow that same buddys back bumper and cladding and put it on and take some pictures to see how it looks. I think it would look pretty good, those are good color combinations.

take those numbers with a huge grain of salt, power acoustik is one of the cheapest car audio brands out there.

i would say that sub is more of a 600w max 200rms based on experience. and those amplifier numbers make absolutely no sense at all.

im starting to stock pile parts in my garage. each weekend that i come home to work on my jeep, i seem to bring more jeep parts with me
I still have my original ZJ, which I think i've owned a good bit longer than you've owned a Jeep.

I'm also cooking up plans to keep my ZJ around for a long time into the future.
