I just wanted to chime in on this thread and thank you for posting this photo and idea of your window regulator fix. Thank you! When my wife told me our Jeep's rear passenger window fell down and wouldn't come back up, I started tearing it apart and found the problem. Found your fix and performed it just the same. Added the small holes for a small wiretie on each cable too, and the window now works great. All for a grand total of $0.00! Gotta love that!

Thanks again,

Tom

Thank you.

I really liked you idea as opposed to paying $100 that I didn't have. So when I went to put it back together I realized my cables had gotten all jammed up inside so I had to make new cables with a trip to lowe's and $6 later I had new cables nd then did the trick. The only problem was the first time I must have made the new cable 1/4 inch too short so after another trip to lowe's and $3 more bucks I got it all fixed up.

Thanks again!

No worries, finish up college and then you should be able to build a fresh new one with all that extra $$ you are going to earn!

My next project is going to be a good way to integrate my RV lights into the Jeep so I dont have to worry about stringing tow lights to the back of the jeep when towing. We towed it to Arizona last week and everything worked great with the exeception of using crappy tow lights so it will be nice to find a way to use the Jeeps brake and turn signal lights.

Anyone done this before?

...holy Dead-Build revival!

Sorry, the Jeep has been collecting dust for awhile now so I figured it was time to resurrect the project. All pics should be back up and running now (dead host).

I finally decided to start playing with the Jeep again and re-geared it to 4.56's so it drives much better now but it wasn't quite as aggressive as I expected - probably should have gone with 4.88's ...but oh well.

[mileage: 125875]

I wanted to revive my bumper/tire carrier project but I moved into a different home that was built in the 1920's so the electric is not well suited to my welder. It was going to cost me a fortune to get all the wiring retrofitted to support the additional load so after careful consideration it seemed better to just purchase a pre-fab bumper so I went with the KOR/Proto-Fab setup.

I went with the dual swing-out:

I have a friend with one on a ZJ and it is a rock-solid setup. The latches are incredible (they have a wedge on the back with latches that resemble what you would see on a tank lid) but be sure to order the one with the shackle-points (not illustrated in the above picture). I still have a few weeks before I get it but hope to have it painted/installed by September so I will post up once I start working on it.

I am starting to get some parts in, hope to have everything in the next week or two but wanted to share one of those "learn from my mistakes" moments...

With the Bumper and Tire Carrier on the way I figured I better start planning for a spare. This is one of those things I didn't consider (6 years ago) when I started this build but I couldn't resist saving the extra $500 by not getting the spare since I had so many other modifications that were on my list but here I am now trying to find a matching spare only to find out that my particular rim is out of production. Raceline discontinued my model so it was very difficult to find. Luckily, I found a warehouse with one unit left. That's right, I literally got the last one (without having to search for something on the used market) so don't make the same mistake, if you have any type of rim that is non-standard try to get all 5 while you can.

Anyway, I got lucky this time and found one ...only to find out that the BFG KM2's are on backorder (again). I remember going through the same when I was trying to get these originally so they must only run so many at a time because I have heard on many occasions where they can be difficult to find.

I found a supplier with them so if you or anyone you know is currently looking for them, try the contact below. Ask for Joe, he was very helpful and everyone else I called could not get them but he seems to have a good connection:

Joe @ Wheel and Tire Superstore
14407 Alondra Blvd
La Mirada, CA 900638
(562) 977-8555 x2038

So now I am all set and just need the bumper to get here so I can start the installation and will post up more once I receive it. I expect delivery in the next week or two.

Wow, that is insane.. How lucky do you feel!? Lotto time!

I have a set of 4, and I have thought I should get the 5th one since they make it and I dont know how long they will for.. In anxious to see your rig with the carrier, will look sweet.. I wish I had the coin and gut to order a bumper like that.
