Most people don't air down that low. You start to lose to much clearance at that low of a psi. I run 8psi in mine and am probably going to bump up to 9 or 10 because it is almost to low. Look at my driver side tire at 8psi when flexed.

Going to switch gears here for a little bit and focus on the front R&P.

The Dana 60 has both a thick and a thin gear set available. As far as my knowledge goes, the think gears are only used so people can have a deeper ratio on a 4.10 and down carrier. Is there any strength benefit to the thick gears or is all the extra material on them just to act as a "spacer"?

correct, thick gears are for gears such as 5.13s working on 4.10 and down carriers.

from my readings, the teeth themselves arent stronger, the whole ring is just thicker.

99 WJ hp44, 3 link, Eaton e locker, 14" foa coilovers in the front. 14 bolt, 4 link, grizzly locker, 12" foa coilovers in the rear. 5.38s and 37s

Yea, I'm just going to run the 4.10 and down carrier with thick gears. About done making my aftermarket parts list. Will probably be ordering stuff within the next couple weeks.

how much for your 4:88 gear sets .. and would i run into any troubles installing them.. or would anything be weaker?

PM sent about the gears.

I don't know about the 44a, but the pinion on the 30 gets kind of small with the 4.88s. Some say you need to take easy. That's about all I know relating to strength issues.

Haven't worked on them here lately. It's hard to work on them when they are at my parents house that's almost an hour away. But I haven't even bought any parts for the axles. Well, the Warn hubs should be here, but that's it. I plan on buying the aftermarket stuff here soon. I got all the links saved to what I need, so I'm just waiting for funds. The lockers and gears ain't cheap!

ya i know im buying parts for the yj slowly as well im planning a huge overhal like you are doing except with a motor swap tosed in there so i totally get it

This one is 315hp 345 ft/lbs a compression of 8.9:1 if someone really had the coin to boot a supercharger on top of that i just want to see someone do it. i mean i dont have that kind of coin just yet either.

i have a question as far as experiences go? Was it really that easy to just bolt in? also drivshaft issue. i have the stock 35/242 transfer if i had the driveshaft from the 44 you think that be use able? or 247 have dif splines?
How much did it cost you to shorten your shaft?

Eh, I'll worry about the stroker motor once the 4.0 I got takes a dump. I'm already spending a pretty penny on these axles.

Thanks though! But yea, the swap was way easy. Just bolt up and go. It just takes a little bit of time. I would think the original 44a driveshaft would work, but don't quote me on that since I don't know if the 242/247 output spline counts are the same. Personally, I used my old driveshaft and had it shortened 1.5" by a local driveline shop for $35.

So I think I'm going to order my brackets and some other stuff either today or tomorrow. What yall think of this list?

That steering isn't street legal, well California at least.

No front truss?

Alabama has no legality issues like Commiefornia. you can pretty much do anything here as long as the headlights are no higher than 54" (i think that is right on the measurement)

He's just looking out. The thing is most states are just following the FEDERAL DOT standards when they make those laws. It could still flare up as an issue for you later. I think he was concerned about using welded inserts on the tie rod. That's the easy way out and they probably label it as offroad only to cover themselves. If you had the DOM threaded for the tie rods, you'd be compliant. Still enjoying your project, just don't like to see anybody caught off guard.
