As for the axles, you got me anxious to see what you choose. If your getting rid of the d30 and 44a you got to be doing some sort of f&r combo. I just want to see what it is, as I've said before your build is one of my favorites that I like to follow closely.

I'm hoping to try and find a DD too, but I'd really like to get my hands on an old comanche, as a work truck. That's all I really need, if I need to do anything else I could use the wifes wj. Then my wj could go to trail rig/ Sunday cruiser.
Yea, I'm really tired of the BB by now!

Manual trans ftw

Now that I have a new DD, I can concentrate on the Jeep...at least a little bit. I ended up moving into an apartment, so I have to leave the Jeep at my parents house/garage. I'll work on it on the weekends.

Only problem is that I still don't have a majority of my parts (lift kit, gears, shocks). It's coming up on like 2 months now since I ordered them. I don't know what the hell is going on. I know Kolak said it would take a little bit on some stuff...but damn. Kind of getting frustrating at this point cause I'd like to work on my Jeep and get it done so I can drive it.
what up with the green circle around 6th?

It's the "greenest" gear. Just a real overdriven gear for highway cruising.

Who, Brian?

Since the guy I've been talking to about axles hasn't called me back yet, I've started looking at CL.

These handle 37s? 35s should be easy though.

Well I followed up on my original idea. Axles out of a Super Duty, kind of like Saturn. I found some at a salvation yard pretty close to where I live. Rear axle is out of a 03 F250 and the front is out of an 03 F350. So its a D60 front and a Sterling 10.5 rear.

Just got off the phone with them and I can pick the axles up for $1600.

Opinions?

IIRC, these axles have unit bearings which are 250-300 a pop. Might want to look into something older with rebuildable hubs.

So I'm back after looking at those axles today. Looks like they got me down for a F350 D60 front and a rear FF Sterling out of a F250 work truck. They took me out to the yard to let me see them and they look fine. Kind of wish they had more F350's so I could just have the matching set. But oh well.

One thing I did notice, they had a bunch of ZJs there.

Yes, they are ball joint and unit bearing axles. RockAuto has unit bearings for like $180. I figure if they are engineered for a huge truck, they should be fine for my Jeep. I have looked at hub conversions from Spyntech though. That might be something for down the road since they are around $1500.

Finally got my lift in the mail! And holy crap, those Clayton arms are pure beef. Seems like they will definitely take a beating!

And Bilsteins ftw

Appreciate it. I'm really looking forward to the long arms!

That's cool man. I love it here in Alabama as well. Hope your family did alright during the storms in April. Cullman got hit pretty good with tornadoes.

And yea, some of my pictures are from orange trail. My WJ did fine on orange, but then again I had a locker in the rear. Some parts you definitely need armor. Mud terrains would be nice, but not particularly needed. If you pick an alright line and carry your momentum, you'll do fine on orange.

And I'll let everyone know when I got my stuff for sale. I'll probably end up making a classified ad in the For Sale section.
