Well I don't have a welder or anything, so that might be a problem since you got some claytons stuff.

Well, I don't know how many of you saw any of my facebook status from the other day, but I think my D30 is on its last leg. I was on my way to Indy airport for my flight back home and was noticing some intermittent vibrations from under my feet. My first thought was driveshafts. I stopped at a rest stop cause I just had to figure out what was going on or else it was drive me nuts. I park it and pull out my tools so I can tighten all the ujoint straps on the front and rear yokes. Everything was tight though.

My next thought was the front diff. My 30 has been making quite a lot of noise for maybe the last 6 months. More so probably in the last 3 or 4 months. It's actually pretty bad. Around 40-50 and under load, the front diff is way loud. I figured while I have my tools and I'm under the Jeep I might as well just take the front driveshaft off and see what happens. And what do you know, the rest of my drive was quiet (for a Jeep anyways) and vibration free. It drove real good for once.

I'm pretty sure its my bearings that are toast. But hell, this is as good of an excuse as any to upgrade axles.

maybe just a bad u joint in your driveshaft? even with your front shaft out all the internals are still moving in the 30 no?

my front driveshaft went from being squeaky to making some vibrations becuase i held off on replacing the u joints and just tried greasing them to get rid of the squeaks...

This. Did you check the unit bearings as well?

Guess that's true. Wouldn't have thought bad ujoints would make that much noise.
