The axle is back in! Finally. Me and some buddies put it in with it about 20 degrees out and snowing. We didn't really have any problems at all, so that was nice. Locker works awesome and the truss looks great!

I really need to do the gas tank lift...

Your gas tank looks all beat up like mine does. Is that a factory skid plate, or the "brush guard"? I'm still trying to figure out what mine has.

Truss looks sweet, btw.

Just wanted to post in here real quick to see if I could gauge interest on selling my IRO adjustable track bar. I kind of decided I didn't need it anymore a while ago since I'll be buying the claytons 6" kit which already has the JKS adjustable track bar in it.

So any initial interest at all? $100 plus shipping maybe? Trade for a Herculiner UV kit?

Looks like I'm going to be buying some Monstaliner early next week. That means I'll be doing some big fender cutting in a couple weeks. And while I'm at it, I might as well raise the gas tank.

Well, my spring break has come to a close. I kept myself pretty busy with the Jeep over the past week.

Pulled my sliders off and repainted them. Gloss black this time instead of the satin that I've had on there. There was so much rust on them...

Next, as the picture in the above post implies, I did the gas tank lift. This marked the first metal to ever be cut on my Jeep. I basically followed Lakai's gas tank lift procedure. First, I took the bumper off. Found a nice little suprise there. Guess the PO got rear ended and never reported it, so it didn't show up on the carfax.

Looks like it tweaked my skid pretty good as well.

From there, I dropped the tank. You just unbolt the skid from the "frame" and it falls right down.

Undo the straps from the top of the tank and just pull the tank out. It helped me alot since I had like no gas in it.

I had about 1/4" of mud/sand in between the gas tank and the skid plate itself. There was alot of it...

Taped off the tub so I could make a decent straight cut with the grinder.

That first cut into the Jeep was the hardest. After that, its cake.

Tub completely out.

Next, I cut the top of the skid in order to keep the finished product "bolt-on". Made sure to keep enough to weld to as well. Then I cut maybe 3" off the sides to make the skid shorter.

Moved to the tub next. Did the same thing as SaturnICL did on this part. Cut off about 4" off the top of the tub. I didn't have duck bills, so I just used two channel locks to bend the outsides of the tub outward.

Mounts welded back up.

When it came time to put things together and cover the hole with the bottom of the original tub, it did not want to cooperate at all. Guess I didn't bend the metal out far enough. So, I ended up abondoning the whole tub covering the hole idea. My girlfriends stepdad has a HVAC business and he let me buy an almost 5'x5' sheet of 24G stainless from him for $20 so I could cover the hole in the back of my Jeep.

Did some cutting and measuring and came up with this...

Laid it down under the carpet and used zip screws to secure it. Sealed it up with clear gutter silicon.

Cover back on. Don't even know anything is out of place.

All done. Where'd it go!?

Decided to clean the axle up and paint it since it can be seen by everyone else now.

I was planning on cutting the fenders up this week as well, but didn't have enough time. I got the bedliner in, so I can do that when I get back home from school. Well, that's about it for now.
