Bad? News about the exploding jeeps

Looks like no matter how the whole Chrysler vs. Uncle Sam goes, we get nothing:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/...afety/2432483/

tl;dr: 10 year statute of limitations means by law anything older than 2003 can't be forced to recall for free.

We shouldn't get anything. It's a rediculous claim. Most suv's have it located behind the rear axle. My s10, k5, jgc, parents liberty, brothers explorer, etc. all had the gas tank located there.

Got tapped by a semi back there and other than a dented bumper mine is good!

/most suvs have the tank back there.
//Doubt there's any good place to carry a large tank full of flammable liquid in a vehicle that regularly does 60mph

10 year limit still applies. ZJs will be included under the recall, but they don't have to give you anything for free.

I'm thinking for PR Chrysler will still include ZJs. And looks like it will just be a trailer hitch anyway.

Damnit, I wanted a free trailer hitch. I just picked up a rear tire carrier and it needs a trailer hitch to secure to.

I read in the other ZJ Recall thread from USA Today that the 93 to 98 zjs would get a free Mopar hitch. I wonder if that really is the case. Hell I wouldnt even mind paying a discounted rate for them as I was going to purchase one soon anyway.

And of course I pull a hitch from the JY when I could have gotten a new one for free lol
