Ok well i guess its about time i started a build thread.

First off, Let me say that this my first ever forum ive been involved with, as well as the first Jeep and vehical ive ever built for off road (all my other trucks were basicly stock, except tires). Along with that, this is also the vehical I intend to learn about maintance on a car (currently am a helicopter engine mech, so i have an ok base to start with), mostly everything will be done myself or with someone showing me how to do it.

I have 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited w/ 4.7L HO bought bone stock with no upgrades. Now that its warming up in NC, ive decided to start working on getting her ready for Uwharrie trips and other places around NC area.

So where to begin. Well after i bought the Jeep in Early Oct 2010 with 115K, about a week later i installed the FIPK, Exhuast and rain guards. And well yesterday was the start of a few big items to install. I got all the new LCA mounts, cross member and support welded and installed. Then today i started installing the rest of the lift. I got most of the front suspension parts off minus the shocks (just hanging), and installed the both front lowers. Then had to head to work. Taking alot longer then i expected, but then again im doing this solo and no previous experience instaling a lift. Unfortunetly the hobby shop is closed and has locked my jeep inside till Wensday when they open. Will be able to get about 3 hours done on Wensday and Thursday. Then ill have all day Friday-Sunday to work. By that time my bumper and flares should be here, so i can do that to and get my 35's on her and roll out the door. Ill post pics later this week of the install along with before and after pics.

Appriciate all that tone in, and i would like yalls opinion on what you think of her, how things are coming along and things you would change or dont like.

So got a little more work done today on the front end.

Put on all the Control arms (upper and lower) on with the bolts left finger tight, so that once the rear is done i can come back and do semi-alignment. one good enough to get me a few miles down the road to get a total alignment done. then ill thread lock and torque all the bolts. Also got the front disco's installed, along with the new spings. Oh yeah and the new bilstiens 5100 are installed as well.

All in all in the 2.5 hours i was working on the jeep, id say i got quite a bit done before work today.

Again ill have pics of everything soon, didnt take any today or yesterday cause phone died. but ill have some for y'all soon enough.

So today the boss let me come in a few hours late so i could get some more work done on the jeep. She is coming along nicely i must say. today i bolted the front tires on just to see how she would stand. WOW...looks sweet i must say. the 35's will look good once i get them mounted on the axles. still has the stock wheels for now.

Anyway, today i was able to drop the rear axle so i can get the lower truss/skid welded on and the upper truss welded on. also removed the shocks, sway bar, link and spring of coarse. then i only had a short amount of time left so i got all 4 control arms temp bolted in place. they just need to be adjusted for when i put the axle in. All in all a pretty good day if i dont say so myself.

On a side note, i felt bad for the guy next to me cause his 8000 mile old stroker motor in his xj blew up. apparently the shop didnt it out all the way and left metal chunks in the cylender walls. motor is toast. so feeling me being the good guy that i was remeber he said he had no shocks, so i gave him mine.

here is a few pics of the temp bolted front. nothing torqued yet, still need to do an alignment and get the pinion angle set up.

3.jpg

And here is a few with how the front now sits with the stock wheels on. back end is still on jacks but after putting the wheels on the jack wasnt big enough to get the rear jack stands out. so this is how high the front will sit. if not higher when the rear is done.
