So it looks like the soup bowl has been dug out a bit since that video.

I got denied. Left rear tire couldn't get up the first ledge. Front left got traction and was going up the second ledge, but not enough to pull the rear up even with the front locked.

After I backed down, a 4 wheel steer buggy on 44s and rockwells tried it and was struggling. He finally made it and nearly tipped when his back tires were coming over the second ledge. He teetered on 3 wheels and had to get pushed on to prevent a rollover.

Oh, and first rollover I've ever seen in person. I can't really describe where it was. But super clean cj5, 33s, chevy engine and axles narrowed to look stock. Got a little too heavy on the skinny pedal and completely rolled on his top. Crazy ****.

My jeep was awesome. I'll post some pictures up tonight when I get them.

We've been talking about having a small BBQ at the shop anyways, I'll see if we can organize one ahead of time and let all of you know. Anyone around here would most definitely be welcome!

Marc I've gotta attempt the current condition of Soupbowl, I heard it was more entertaining now even before your trip. Game on

First mockup of the 231/205 doubler. The 205 is huge, and that cast in mounting boss on the left was screwing me over.


So I chopped that crap off, and now everything fits fine!


I cut about 2.75" off


I've got a hole to patch, but I like cast welding


Flat belly skid? YES PLEASE!


I had to shorten the shift levers I made to avoid the manual shifter, but that wasn't bad. Also pretended I know what I'm doing on the lathe today, made some sweet shift knobs . When both FWD and RWD are in the same range it will act as a single shifter. When I want to start really using the twin sticks I split the levers

You sir are what I aspire to be. Very nice work man, I love the attention to detail. What are you using to weld cast? Mig, tig, or stick?

Haha thanks man. Don't doubt yourself, I was in your shoes just a couple years ago. Kept tinkering in the garage on my own stuff until I felt comfortable working on other peoples rigs. Then progressed from there

I'll be mig welding it with a generous preheat, postheat and some peening to relieve stress. It's the same method I've used for a while including Marc's front D44 truss, and had great success.

Just the normal MIG wire, I unfortunately can't remember the exact code....ER70S2? Or something similar to that.

Shoot I apologize for not responding, I did see your message but I can't recall what website it was on. IIRC my inbox here on jeepforum is over capacity until I renew my membership, but I'd be more than welcome to discuss the options with you!

Er70s-6 most likely. I was curious to see if you were using something with a high nickel content.

No worries, im not in a rush. Just looking for a truss for my 78 3/4 ton Ford hp44. A truss like you built for Marc would be awesome as the main reason I want it is for the upper ca mount placement. As well as both upper control arm towers/mounts to get the axle to work with the Claytons. Like I said, not in a rush or anything, just want to know a price so I can get the money together.

I'm over off Sunrise just north of 50, my phone is (916)Seven10-Zero813 so we can get together!

For steel I have a couple places I go, number one being S&K Steel over off Florin Perkins blvd. If you order steel at their front counter it's a bit expensive, but if you wander out back into their big shop they have remnant piles by all the big machinery. They are an industrial supply place so the word "remnant" is used loosely, they have up to 4ftx4ft sheet considered remnants. At that point they're giving you a nice per pound cost. If you happen to go out there, they are right next to Blue Collar Supply which is definitely a store worth stopping into. Fasteners by the pound, various metals and billets, casters and all sorts of fun shop stuff.

Second on the list is C&C Steel right down the street from me, south of 50 on Sunrise. Not a bad place by any means, but I have fun BSing with the guys over at S&K

All you need is lathe and good welder which is what he has. I use Adaco in diamond springs
