yeah yeah a little more work haha. I've gotta rebuild my upper bumpstop extensions, chop a little off the spring retainer plates so it clamps my spring, and still do that brake spacer. Gettin there though!

All 4 links are painted, I may replace the UCA bushings while they are out, they are the originals that clayton sent with the kit a couple years ago.

And you get a sneak peek of what's under that blue moving blanket...hmmm what could it be!?

It's a super ultra mega gokart . Guess it's propulsion system!

Hmmm snap. Test fitting thangs. Gotta do a little more toying with the lower shock mounts, then I gotta finish the brakes that I've been procrastinating on...Make a 1/4" wheel spacer, and the bearing retainer spacer.

Holy god it is an amazing thing to be able to do this without the third in it...

Stuffed up to full bump of the shocks, the bumpstops will actually stop the axle a bit before this, but the truss has about 1" of clearance behind it at the gas tank

Did a little before class today. I've always been intimidated by using oxyacetalyne for cutting. I don't know why, but I just never used it. I used it today, making the 1/4" thick spacers for the rotors so they are positioned properly. I don't know how i've lived without the torch in the past, It's actually alot more accurate and less cleanup than I was expecting! (I've ued a torch a few times in a welding class a few years ago, but not much other then that)

Going to weld this little spacer to the backing plate, then hand file it until I have a consistent thickness all around.

And more work going into the rotor spacers, gotta pick up my brother in laws die grinder to clean up the inside area

Checklist:
Finish rotor spacers
Finish bearing spacer
Reshape shock mounts
Buy new rotors, pads, and ebrake pads
Redrill axleshafts to 5x5.

Yeah...I have to have it done by friday afternoon, and hopefully with a few miles on the fresh set of gears...fordyce is going to be fun as hell.

Still to do:

Finish rotor spacers (very close)
Finish bearing spacers (weld/file)
Bumpstops:
-cut old off
- Make new bucket for polyurethane stop
- Shorten spring retainer clamps
- Weld on new upper bumpstop extensions
Buy new rotors, pads, ebrake pads, and 1310-1350 conversion ujoint,
Redrill shafts
Mount hardline to axle

God damn. A day and a half to do it, I have school tonight and friday morning. LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS!

Every guide I've read says to go ~500 easy miles on a R&P and only go for ~30 minute drives before doing anything crazy. Will we see an update of "trashed my R&P this weekend"?

Lol I bet ya I'll be fine, if I thrash a LP 9" gear set on 35"s I'm damn skilled lol. Anyways, these don't need to last 100k miles, if I get 20 on them before I change again I'd be suprised haha.

The drive up the sierras is gunna put some heat into em for sure, loaded down with I'd guess an extra 3-400lbs of stuff I'd guess. After the trip I will consider them fully broken in and will swap the fluid right then haha.

Time to ask for some help from you guys, has me stumped. So i welded up that little spacer and ground/filed it to the right height, and tried to do a test assembly of the shaft, backing plate and retainer in the housing. Well I tried, and couldn't get the bearing retainer bolted all the way on. I can get like two of the studs through with nuts just BARELY started on them, and the axle is already tight in the housing as if its already being preloaded. Once that happened I threw on the nonmodified bearing retainer and sinched it down, it actually has the axleshaft tight in the housing.
This confuses the hell out of me because the difference in backing plate thickness was so obvious...I'm not sure what to do about it yet...
Stock plate installed, holding modified. I have the caliper bracket on backwards, don't mind that.

Ok I went out and disassembled again to check the bearing race, which is seated fully.
When I pulled it apart though I turned the caliper bracket around, and actually slid it down the shaft past the seal to the axle flange. It's a tight fit between the ID of the center of the brake bracket and OD of the seal (within I'd say a 16th or 32nd), and there was silicone on the outside of the seal. bolted it back and it actually went together...I don't know if something wasn't seating right and binding up or what, but no complaints here! I don't like getting thrown a curveball a day and a half before a trip.

Modified plate fully installed.

Doin work son! Been at it since 9:30 this morning so far. Bought my new rotors, pads, shoes, ujoint, longer pinion support bolts (for the pinion guard), and longer bolts to replace the anchor studs.

Got top and bottom bumpstops done on one side, other side 60% done.

3rd member backlash measured @ ~6 thousands backlash, all torqued to spec, pinion guard installed, and its now bolted to the housing for final assembly.
Driveshaft got its new 1310-1350 u-joint installed, and its now bolted under the truck.

Left to do:
Finish driver side bumpstops
Redrill axle shafts to 5x5
Install parking brake shoes, rotor, caliper (praying the stock brake line will work, i'll make it work)
Fill with gear oil and GO!

I want to knock it all out and have it driving tonight.

*EDIT*
Oh...and shock mounts...hmm.
