Andrew, if you want a loud *** muffler that will give you more flow than a FM44....go with a hushpower. Kind of pricey....like $225....but go make friends with a meineke shop owner. The one here did the exhaust on my XJ. He wanted to sell me the hushpower for $80...but I had bought the FM44 2 weeks before taking it to him. Anyways, my roommates dad has it on his TJ, with a random technologies cat and the thing sounds like a freaking V8......I cant even imagine what that setup would sound like on a 5.2

camera sucks. idk it sounds too muffled down, like a magnaflow. i hate the mellow V8 sound.

Well i'll post a vid if you would like oh and for the guy's that like flowmaster's i'll let you guy's in on a little secret there is a reason why they stopped doing the lifetime warranty on there mufflers cause they paint the inside of the muffler instead of dipping them to prevent rust well when the paint wears off the chambers will rust out causing your exhaust to be straight piped within a year tops if you notice that its gotten louder or if you get underneath it and bang on it and notice a rattle its rusted out now i'm knocking flowmaster cause they do sound good just letting you in on a little somethin somethin maybe this will help with your decision for your exhaust eagle I mean I am a genius after all

I thought you didn't like that muffler after all? It was too quiet and boring to be honest with ya.

yeah magnaflows arent very exciting.

oh and some recent updates!

lets see, got my oil changed, new head gaskets, 180* t-stat, new liftgate struts, new motor mounts, and swaybar end links. still makes that damn sound, which was just diagnosed today!

get ready for it.... the mystery sound that drives my insane is....

well its complicated. basically i need to replace my tranny mount. theres apparently some exhaust hanger near or on the tranny or transfer case, idk. but basically the mount has caused the tranny to settle and sag down a little bit. now, the exhaust hanger sits low. so basically, the pipe before the cat sits 1/4" above a crossmember right under the passenger seat. when the engine torques up and the tranny is in gear, the exhaust pipe hits the crossmember. simple fix, new tranny mount.

yeah, my 44 is already rusted on the outside. But that is a horrible video. The hushpower sounds great on my roommates dads TJ. Just as loud as my FM50 I had on my ZJ. Give this video a try andrew.

Video: Pro Series - 2001 Dodge Dakota - Hushpower

Otherwise if you want it loud......look for a 2 chamber muffler like a FM44. I know Cherry Bomb makes some, hooker makes some, and I believe Aero (cant quite remember the name but I think thats right) and they are all stainless steel so they will last longer.

Its very quiet inside, but in the outside, it sounds great. It might be queiter than a flowmaster, but the tone it makes sounds sooo much better. Could be the combo of my Doug Thorleys, High flow cat, and 3" exhaust though

people always talk about the "flowmaster break-in period"

is that what that really is?
