99wjlaredo's Slow 99' WJ Build

Thought I would just start a build thread so when I come around to doing little or big things to it I could post and have a spot to look over my build as I go on.

First off I just recently bought this in June of 2010 so I have yet to have much time to get to building on it.

To start off its a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0 and Tow package with the Selec-Trac and White in color.

Would like to add that I hate myself for not taking pictures of the rig when I first bought it before doing some things that have changed it.

Only pics I have is from the night that I brought it home and it was raining and me flexing on a rock at my house.. also a pic of some sand hill I climbed one day.

Stock night when I brought it home

Flexing out and hitting the sand

Then First things first was to get a lift asap so I looked around and choose to get the Rough Country 2" BB with shocks. Wish I would have taken pics of the install but being like 100 degree with the heat index I just wanted it done and took about 4 hours. Would have took sooner but never have taken springs out and was taking my time for the most part.

After the 2" BB was installed I went ahead and painted the cladding black and made it look sooooo much better (Highly recommend painting them)

Also went ahead and tinted the tail lights as being a white truck I have seen some pics on JF and liked the look and went ahead with it.

Pic after the 2" BB, Painted Cladding and Tinted Tail lights

Then the next thing I purchased was a cb radio and the firestix/tail light mount kit. I bought the Cobra cb radio from a local Walmart. Just recently got it installed the other day and have yet to set the SWR on the attenna? I havent tryed to use it yet but dont have anyone close to me to test it anyways. Have a few friendly nice people in the area willing to help but for not having a job I dont have the gas to go anywhere.
Only purchased so when I decide to goto the badlands I would have one.

Last thing to add to the first post of this thread would be that I bought a red Hi Lift jack off of craigslist for a good price and couldnt pass it up.

I will new pics at the start of the morning so I can have some recents. Also got a few wheeling pics ill add and a video when I can find out to get it off my Girlfriends facebook.

Well I know most people will wonder "Well whats your future plans?" And as of now these are my plans (When I find a job)

15x8 Cragar Soft 8's from Summit Racing
31/10.50/15 Bfg KM2's
3" IRO Lift (Have thought very hard between 3" and 4")
JKS Quick Discos
JKS Adj Trackbar
RC SS

And Maybes

New shocks? not to sure yet as I got the shocks from RC for my 2" BB and need to contact that to see if they are only the 0"-2" shocks
Rear Addco Swaybar
IRO Premium Rock Sliders (Maybe find some cheaper ones that look like them)
Many More to add to this list to come!!

Sorry if there is anything spelled wrong I usually just speed through typing and never relize it.

MORE PICS TO COME!

After alot of debating I will be going with the 3" lift within the next month just thought Id add my cost sheet ive been working on tonight. Was really debating to get the 4" setup but decided just to go 3" and can always upgrade later by buying new coils.

Custom 4 Lift Setup (Not IRO Lift just pieces)

Front 4 Coils = $154.99 (IRO)
Rear 4 Coils = $154.99 (IRO)
RE Monotubes
JKS Adjustable Track Bar
JKS Quick Discos
Front Adjustable UCAS + LCAS = $319.99 (IRO)
Rear Swaybar Links = $69.99 (IRO)
A-Arm Spacer = $99.99 (IRO)

Total = In the area about $1349.95

IRO 4 Lift Kit Setup

IRO 4 Lift Kit = $749.99
No Shocks = (-$100)
Upgrades
JKS Quick Discos = $89.99 (IRO)
Front Adjustable UCAS + LCAS = $319.99 (IRO)
A-Arm Spacer = $99.99 (IRO)
RE Monotubes

Total = In the area about $1,459.95

IRO 3 Lift Kit Setup

Front 3 Coils = $149.99 (IRO)
Rear 3 Coils = $149.99 (IRO)
Rear Swaybar Links = $69.99 (IRO)
JKS Adjustable Track Bar
JKS Quick Discos
RC Steering Stabilizer = $53.05 (Rough Country)

Total = $673.02

Got realllly bored so just pieced everything together to see what Id be ball parkin on spending on a lift and just decided to go with 3" for the time being until I upgrade the front driveshaft/ cv axles and a few other things.

Then my wheels/tires ill be getting

Rims & Tires

15x8 Cragar Black Soft 8s = $183.75 (Summit Racing)
31x10.50 BFG KM2s = $700.80 (TireRack)
Friend mount and balance at his work = $beer

Total = $884.55

Hopefully I can get a few pics of the heep the way it sits now when its light out.

also found some used BFG A/t's for $325. says 3 are like new (less than 500 miles) and 2 are half worn.. the half worn shouldnt be that bad for being bfg ats

While i love IRO and i run their CAs i wouldn't buy their basic 4in kit i would go with the Zone or RCX kits they are around the same price as the IRO 3in kit and you get a whole lot more to work with and upgrade from.

Yea I wanna go with the Zone but dont wanna really go more than 3" since I cant really afford a new front driveshaft and really have no idea what and how I would install one if I would order a new one.

I mean I could just remove the drive shaft and drive around in 2wd couldnt I? until i can afford the driveshaft?

or could I just use the transfer case drop kit to go back to 3" would it be fine then?
