801DubJay Build Thread

In the beginning, I drove an Altima... slammed, low-pros & TON's of engine & suspension mods. But it was a nightmare in the snow. So I started looking for something with 4 wheel drive to drive on bad days: Enter the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V8. Here she be when I picked her up from the previous owner in December '08... I lovingly named her Katie.

And that night I had my way with her. Poor thing didn't even see it coming...

My plans for her were simple. Murder it out. 20" 5 stars on A/T's. Nurf bars. Bull Bar. Accenting exhaust. She was going to be a total street queen, but that all changed when I stumbled across the ZJ/WJ Picture Thread. I had no idea you could lift a Grand Cherokee and make it look awesome. I knew what I had to do: Lift, rims & tires!

After a month of owning her, I bought a Zone 4" lift, 16x7 Cragar Soft 8's & Kumho 265/75/16 KL71 MT's.

This is the dub on my first outing with the soon to be organized Utah Jeep Crew in Sept '09, started by John 311WJ & co-VP'd by yours truly.

And a more recent photo from the same location at 5 Mile Pass, The Snakes

So my plan for this thread is to slowly add & explain modifications I have made along the way as well as hear your input! I have lots to come!

Current mods:
-IRO 6.5 Springs
-IRO fixed rear LCA's
-IRO Upper adj. A-arm
-IRO Upper and lower front spring retainers
-IRO Premium Sliders
-IRO adj. trackbar
-KOR .75" front spacers
-Spartan Locked D44a
-Rough Country shocks
-Rough Country quick discos
-Rough Country 1.5" wheel spacers
-4.56 Yukon Gears
-TransGo shift kit
-SpeedoDRD
-Custom Radius Front Long Arms
-Cobra CB w/ Firestik accessories
-Tank Tuck
-17x8 Cragar Black Rock Series 909 Type D w/ 4.5" bs
-Kumho 315/70/17 KL71 MT's
-Front drive shaft conversion from CV/Rzeppa type to U-Joint
-2-bolt quick removable front bumper mod
-Painted cladding & bumpers in black rubberized undercoating
-Trimmed front bumper from Jimmer (311WJ's Limited WJ)
-Flashed TCM for use of all 5 forward gears
-Jeeptweeters upgrade/replacement
-Planet Audio 6.5" speakers in rear doors
-Sony 1200w Amp
-2 10" Pioneer Premier subs in sealed box
-Spyder Auto projector headlights
-Utah pin striping!

Both of you need a build thread! You can homogenize your names & call it KOLD's build thread

I'm ordering the LA's hopefully before our Moab trip in Nov! We'll see... all the dw & tie rod end shenanigans has set me back.

That tank tuck is going to be awesome... I want to do another mineral basin run before the canyon closes, just so I can not hit my tank, haha

Awe, jeez - you make me feel so special...

As for the LA's, I think they flex too much. What am I going to do with that much articulation? The tires are into the fenders when I am still connected. My trailer queen doesn't need that much flex to bring the kids to soccer and for grocery shopping. I should have left it stock.

Thanks brotha! FG was such an awesome trip... even if I was separated from my shoe in the great canoeing mishap of 2010, haha.

Haha, awesome... Thanks for adding that! My phone had a melt down today & all my pics are on it. Hopefully I can still get to them when I tether my phone to my laptop.

This weekend we'll have new pics of it in action.. yours too!

Tail Light Tint

This past July I decided to go for the "murdered out" look.

I started by buying an $11 can of VHT lens tinting spray, which has lead to countless fix-it tickets... I look at is this way, some recognition is better than none! Haha.. but here's the finished product

I also sprayed black rubberized under coating all over the plastic cladding & painted the grill black, as you can see in most of my pics... but this is definitely the cosmetic upgrade I like the most.
