you should man i want to trim my bumper but i hate how the radiator is exposed after doing so and i like a clean cut look without leaving those little teeth on the bottom of the fascia

Those are the recentered h1s correct?

I really like that look. When in July are you heading back up this way?

Yep recentered to 3.5" backspacing I think? And they have rock rings welded on, which is the outer part you see.

Here's a teaser pic with a rear tire rolled into place too hehe

I've been doing some work today, bolted the brake backing plates to the 14 bolt, put the drums on (might be for good, don't know yet), pulled his pitman arm off to ream it for 1 ton TRE's, and finished tapping the lower bolt holes in the 14 bolt for some cap head allen screws. Nice and protected

greg, we will have to move the front axle back mabe an inch or to, i dont see any major issues, as when the tire travels up, it also moves foward.

and yes, those wheels have 3.5" of backspacing.

oh, and those bolts look great on thhe cover, should do a great job.

Pitman arm is reamed out for the 1 ton TRE, I actually reamed it so the TRE comes in from the top. Worked out great! Drag link is reinstalled to check things out, the front end is pretty much complete! Just gotta throw the diff cover on it.

I've been working on setting the gears in the 14 bolt too, the dang carrier and ring gear are getting excessive runout on it unfortunately :/

Thanks man

I've taken the 14 bolt apart to rearrange the locker halves and ring gear twice today...I think one of the case halves from the locker is shot. I wonder if an axleshaft broke in it and wallowed it out. I set the carrier on one bearing and race on the ground, spun it and watched it spin perfectly with zero runout. I flipped it over and did the same to find all sorts of runout...so I flipped it back over so the culprit was on top and inspected it.

First, look at that taper going into the inner surface of the locker. It only exists roughly 1/3" the way around

Second, this is where it REALLY shows. Look at this video. only 6MB, 17 seconds long. I spun the carrier by hand and set the race on the top bearing. Look at how much everything is moving side to side
http://agitatedpancake.com/random/jeep/5.9andy/carrier%20bearing.wmv

Soo yeah, at a standstill with the 14 bolt at the moment.

that really blows.

i had a hell of a time setting up my hp44. turns out the pinion was just WAY out of spec for depth, with no marking to tell me how off it was. wouldn't have thought yukon gears would be that far off(and unmarked).

Yeah man it sucks! Suprising that Yukon gears were out of spec too.

Alright I seem to do my best with looming deadlines...like scrambling to get the 609 under my WJ so I could drive it untested 140 miles into nevada :flipoff2:. This thing is going to be no different heh. Andy is planning on driving it down to socal 4th of july weekend so I've got some work to do over the next 2 weeks.

I've located a new 14 bolt carrier that I will have tonight or tomorrow so I can set the gears and get that thing under the jeep. Today I'm prepping the rear control arms and then hanging them under the jeep to get ready for the 14 bolt, I'm mostly done building some new mounts for the front sway bar that pushes it forward a bit so it doesn't hit the coils anymore. Once I get those finished up I'll be welding on the axle side mounts and have the sway bar fully installed today. If I have time/energy left after that I'm going to start working on hooking up the tcase shift linkage, the Rock Trac 241 is a bit different than the 231 that was in there. Pics and more updates to come!

Doin good so far today! Been painting the rear links, they're pretty much ready to go in. Also got the entire sway bar assembly pretty much buttoned up. Just have to cap and clean up the sway bar mount relocaters.

Here are the new frame side sway bar mounts

It has nuts welded into the new mount holes

Looks like we might have to get a more flexible lower rad hose, maybe one of those universal ones to avoid the sway bar.

Welded the lower mounts to the side of the coil bucket

The axle is probably going to be rotated slightly down, and might move back later so clearance here should only get better.

And a little premade gusset across the coil bucket on each side to make sure things dont bend. I got it all done and finish welded, just waiting for it all to cool so I can bolt it together.
