Andy, hows this for a shave? Muahahaha

I started the shave today...BIG STEPS! Ahhh good stuff. I took just about 3" off the bottom of the diff.

Is this cheating? Haha I've always had the idea...to see your cut lines

I tried the sawzall, said F it and busted out the angle grinder with cutoff wheel. Took like 20 mins to cut off

Little bit of mowhawk action is gunna have to happen haha, it'll be badass!

That's a pretty good idea with the laser. To bad there is hardly a time when you need to cut a single straight line.

Thanks! It should be nice for cutting rockers out also . It'll keep you on track perfectly. Even if you just set up the laser to create a trace line to go over with a sharpie. The beauty is it transfers the line across various surfaces accurately, hard to do by hand.

greg, i know we talked about it in one of our meany meeting before we left..

when you weld on the botton plate, let it extend past the mounting surface of the diff cover... that way it gets a good machining when the cover and axle get machined flat.

What are you plating the bottom of the diff with? 1/2"? Going with a shave kit or are you going to be doing it yourself? Also, are you taking any material off the ring gear?

1/2" plate I'll be cutting and shaping myself. And yeah, we're taking a decent amount off the ring gear, I'll snap a pic to show how much sometime!

My Hypertherm Powermax 30 rocked the 1/2" plate for the bottom of the diff, I was way impressed.

Then I got started on plating the shave back in, so far so good!

Andy I'm taking alot of material thickness off that center section. I've welded all 3 peices together solid, now I'm going to be taking a MASSIVE 8" grinder to it to take that material off and round everything together! There will be more pics before it's welded in for good so you can check it out

How's this look andy? I've got a little bit more welding and grinding to do, but the shape is there! The inside is getting the same treatment
