I just got my moog TRE's and they are tight but still have that dead spot in the steering in the middle. lol

Edit: I'd like to update that with the new JKS track bar nice and tight and the tight tie rods, the dead spot in the middle has decreased to almost nothing. still some

this weekend i tried to do my TRE's the job itself isn't hard, just when things get stuck and you don;t have the proper tools, then it can be a huge PITA.

i started with the bottom one that is in the TRE sleeve. screwing it out was super hard. it took all my strength just to turn it 1/4 of the way. i hat to brace the sleeve under the spring perch.

finally i went to HD and bought a torch for $20...

...which helped a lot, but it was still tuff. used lots of pb blaster, let it sit, then heated it up for a minute, then turn the tre a few turns and repeat. eventually got it out, towards the end it got a lot easier.

moog vs factory

new one installed

before i bought the torch i decided to change my front diff fluid since i was under there.

after putting the cover back on i couldn't get the plug loose. that's when i decided to go buy that propane torch. and and 20 sec. with some heat the plug came out no problem.

now the TRE on the pitman arm i couldn't get the nut off, heat/pb..nothing helped. so just left that one on for now. hopefully someone can help with that one or i can get it done by a shop

i defiantly need to do an alignment now...feels even looser, but don't want to until i get that other TRE done.

i also bought new taillights, but have a problem with the turn signals coming on. this week i'll have to check the connections on them and someone recommend i use some solder on the connections. it's raining now, but i'll have to do that this week.

i also have a trip planned, for the last week in August, to TN/NC area. i go backpacking a few times a year, and while i'm up there i'll also be hitting some trails (forest roads). i asked around and someone pointed me in the right direction on where to find a good trail (hurricane creek rd). don't want to do any hardcore wheelin' up there just looking to do some exploring on the trails. even the easiest trail up there would be a lot better than the ones down here (not including citrus)

but i need to get my jeep in shape for a trip up there. some things i need to have checked out or do: fix my DW/alignment, have a bad vibration when i start her up when sh'es cold, whining noise from the engine bay...could be the ps pully or pump, get my hitch on, get a matching size spare tire, drivers power seat quit working and 4wd grinds and chatters when it works hard.

Let me know how comfortable you are doing tre's. Might need help on mine. Hoping to do those and ball joints soon.

How much were all your tre's together?

It's a Jeep, it's not supposed to work right all the time.

I was wondering if you had gotten them done. I had the torch ready. But when you were doing them i was at 5a. But a Monkey wrench, and a adjustable is all you need when they are stuck. I did mine without even taking the tire off.

this past weekend had a small ride and did some work. a buddy is trying to make up some a-pillar light brackets. the 1st design looked all good until it cracked my windshield. will be going back this week to finish up a new design. going to add long range lights there.

also, wire brushed the skid and bedlined it. will be installing later in the week.

some shots from my ride in Ocala NF.

camping

bought some new decals...i figured there's a V8 badge, why not a 4.0L!

for when the zombies attack...

...i'll be buying a permit soon
