This is exactly what I need to do. I've got dented up rockers, heck same color WJ too. I wasn't sure if I wanted to fix the rocker and get it painted or just painted.

I think I will go with what you did. Can you tell me what sanding stuff I would need? I don't have access to an air sander. Can you tell me why you chose to use rubberized undercoating rather than just spray paint?

Okay First I would only do this if its Temporary if you have dented rockers.. (they can rust on the inside when the paint is chipped from the dent.. and rust from the inside out)..

I'm planning on cutting mine out for sliders/boat sids very soon..
But it has held up well and looks great still!

If you look in the pics i used some 3M sanding blocks.. but any sand paper will do.. you just need to scuff it up really well (i used the air sander to get all the rust out..)

I used rubberized undercoating cause it's not as harsh looking as a bed liner.. but also if i scratch it i can just spray some more on.. where as paint i would have to constantly be painting it and it wont look as good coming out of a rattle can..

hmmm...well temporary it isn't and there is some rust since the paints all chipped to hell. i have sliders to put on, but i'm not going the boat sides, so i'm not cutting out my rockers. i guess i should get an estimate for it to get fixed.
