2008 3.0L turbo diesel

I am interested in purchasing a used 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo North Edition with 144,000kms/ 90,000 miles. It seems like a really nice SUV.

However - seems some people are reporting oil in the intake, which is damaging the swirl motor/turbo. I don't have a lot of experience with turbo diesels so I am not sure if this is a big issue/ design flaw.

Will a turbo diesel jeep be a reliable vehicle or should I look for a gas power plant instead??

Any advice would be appreciated -
