2004 Overland, new Jasper engine, is this exact replacement????

Hey guys,
I had a new Jasper engine installed in my 2004 Overland. I paid $6000 plus change for it installed. It's a long story on why I bought a new engine (well remanufactured, I know) but I don't think I got the exact replacement. My original engine seamed to have way more power but got slightly better in time (or I got used to it). But then when I went to change the oil after break-in, the oil filter is way smaller than the original one I had. What the heck engine did I get from Jasper??????????????? I didn't remove the filter yet or change the oil because that was a major road block for me. The oil filter looks about the physical size of a Liberty 6 cyl engine filter. Are there any years that the 4.7 HO had this smaller filter. I am looking for feedback so I could approach the mechanic with some ammo for my argument that the engine I got is not an identical replacement as promised. Please help.
Mark
