Nah, just a primer followed by some black implement enamel. Want to be able to touch it up easily, same paint I'm going to put on the bumpers.

Just running it around the wheel wells where I cut and rolled, then along the pinch weld on the rockers

And with masking removed:

Wire wheeled the axle and sprayed a coat of primer to prevent surface rust while I wait for my brackets to get here.

Well, just got word my brackets and suspension aren't going to ship till late next week, so I'll probably slow my roll a bit.

Clayton must be really backed up, better to be busy than broke I suppose.

In other news, my bumpers may ship this week so that's good.

Pretty much, the brackets and truss for that are part of what won't go out until late next week.

Will probably set up the gears and stuff this weekend and then hangout and wait for parts.

Thing of beauty.

Spent most of the day in KC, but when I got home I started working on the front gears. Got the old gears apart, setup bearings made, shims measured, and ring gear on the OX.

Then I got hungry.

Stopped for the night.

Heres where I'm at. Still have some work, the coast is a little to the heel still and the edge is still too sharp. Backlash is 5 thousandths. Going to pull the pinion out a little more in the morning and see what that gives me. I think its too deep.
