2001 on 37s - Building it up

Further updates:

I ended up trading my WJ for a moderately built 03 Rubi. I'll continue to visit this thread occasionally and answer any questions. Hope the new owner has as much fun with the WJ as I have.

Well, I made the first cuts today, so time to start documenting it as well for future reference.

Background:
I recently sold my 91 YJ I'd built/wheeled to get into a WJ for a little more room. I subsequently picked up an 01 Limited with the 4.7.

My old rig:

That was such a nice looking dubj! I'm sure it will look pretty cool with the rubber sitting next to it in the first pic.

Pretty excited to see this! Is there a reason your only going to run 4.56s and not a lower yet gear like 4.88s or 5.13s with that size tire?

Besides there already being 4.56s in the axles, no. I almost just ordered 4.88s but decided to try out the 4.56s first.

BL, I was going to run 35s but decided at the 11th hour to order 37s. The ratio is pretty close to stock 29s and 3.73s, granted there is more rolling/wind resistance and weight..

Work:

And here is where I decided to start this evening, tank lift:

Going to pull the rear bumper and start working on getting the tank up after dinner.

I don't think this spare tire has seen the road...

Sounds like a solid setup. I bet the 4.56's will be hurt a bit with 37's but be tolerable.

No hydro-assist?

Not yet. I've already sunk as much as my wife will tolerate into this for a while..

I'm surprised she let it go this far, frankly.

You could get away with a cheap hydro assist (tap the stock box) and from the sound of 37's it might help you out a little. Slo Mo on mallcrawlin has a mini writeup and could be really beneficial. He's on 39's and is only running the stock box and a fluid cooler. Anyways this is gonna be awesome. Subscribed.

Sounds like a great build! Great work space, too -- I like how it looks like you're working in your kitchen.

Keep at it!
