on paper the difference between the two numbers seems so nominal, till you compare as you did with the pic. That should hold up to a bit more abuse. Good luck with the build. looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Any updates? I know the answer, but this is one of the few threads on the internet with pictures I can see at work.

haha noooo i'm slow
progress was derailed by a purchase of a second 78 d60. which turned out to have a cracked driver side knuckle. 30 year old kingpin studs are suborn as ****.

Sucks about the knuckle man, I plated the crap out of mine to make sure nothing bad happens like that. The build looks sick though!
Soak that kingpin in penetrating lube or WD-40, then get yourself a LONG breaker bar for that allen wrench hehe.
The first one on Andy's '79 went easily,
The second one didn't want to come off, I had to use the full weight of the axle housing plus my welder on top of it to break it loose haha

the crack isnt too bad. i'll grind it out, weld it, and plate it. you think its worth getting that $75 plate kit off pirate or just torch some pieces out of .25" plate myself? any advice for welding on the knuckles? was was going to preheat them in the oven (mom is going to be elated!) and use .035 flux core on 180 amp.
i've been following your build forever. ever time i look at the front of the jeep i think about how to dovenose it. haha

haha shoot thanks man! I preheated my knuckles with oxyacetylene, welded HOT 2"ish strips, then peened (hammered, landing specifically on the weld and the cast area around the weld) the fresh strip of weld. From there either weld the next strip or oxyacetylene post heat. I've had good luck so far, make sure you've got it preheated nicely not just blast it a little bit.

this is not happening fast at all....
got some stuff, not enough
d60 rebuild parts
14b
36" TSLs
H1s
ballistic coil buckets
new plan is to run stock 4.10 gears and 36s then upgrade later. need to get this going.
