YJ Rear Axle in YJ?

I had a Jeep guy tell me that I should put a XJ (Cherokee) rear axle in my Wrangler (YJ). Is this swap, although relatively cheap and easy, worth it? I am running 31" tires with stock lift.
Thanks, Phil

It depends on what year XJ the axle is coming from.
This is taken from the XJ FAQ:

Dana 35: XJ (most 84-91, all w/ABS post-91)
Chrysler 8.25": XJ rear, non-ABS post-91
Dana44: Some 1987-89 XJ Cherokee rear (most common in 1987 w/towing package, very rare in later models)

If it's an XJ with the Dana 44, then I would says it's worth it. Not too familiar with the Crysler 8.25" so can't help you there.

Is this a pretty good route? Is the Chrysler 8.25 much stronger than the stock D-35? Is it an easier install than the Explorer 8.8?
Thanks, Phil
