WJ need some help identifying very strange noise / vibration. Thanks

I have a 2002 Grand Cherokee Laredo 2wd with 135,000 miles on it. It's my wife's car , I drive a TJ. The WJ started making a weird sound today. It's intermittent, but, when accelerating, just a small amount, their is a very fine tick sound coming from the rear, and you can feel it in the gear shifter. Its a very fine tick sound with vibration, almost like an electrical issue. Has anyone ever experienced this or have any idea what it could be??? Thank you for your help.

You'll need to look at a few things, and don't bet its at the rear.

Chock your tire and put the jeep in nuetral, then check the shafts, both front and rear shafts, there should be 0.0 movement in the joints, take hold of the shaft and then the end yoke at the diff and twist them opposingly, do the same at the t-case end with the slip and shaft.
Then do the same at the front shaft, if you have rzeppa's at the front shaft there should be no rips in the boots and no play or noise from it.

Check that and see whats happening.

Thanks for the advice. I'm changing the transmission and differential fluids today. It's never been done that I know of, so it couldn't hurt. I'll be sure to take your advice while I'm working on it.
