Will a dana 35 thats reinforced hold up with a 35's

Will a Dana 35 hold up to a 35 inch tire if its reinforced or is it the inner axel that breaks? Also same question with a Dana 30?

The Dana 35 is junk when the axle breaks and it will with 35" tires the whole axle shaft and brakes will come out of the axle. The Dana 30 is a good axle and can be upgraded to chomemolly shafts.

How can you be a Jeeper and not read JP magazine! They say the dana 35 is a turd.So many people waste there time and money only to down the road get a better axle.

Yea because JP is the end all be all publication

Plenty of people make the D35 survive with the Super 35 kit on 35" tires. As I said do some research and decide for yourself. Don't base the decision solely on what JP posts. Some of the stuff in that magazine is worthless anyways.

I had a stock dana 35 with 3.07s and 35's. wheeled the hell outta it and nothing ever happend to it. swapped it once it got the 8.8 done, but like i said, i abused the hell outta mine with 150k miles on it and it loved every min of it.

I wheeled with one on the old YJ.
It lasted until I swapped it, which is all it had to do at the time.
Now I know better, and have first hand witnessed them breaking, I wouldn't put a penny into one myself. Too easy to ruin a good day IMHO.
Can they last with gentle throttle? Probably.
Are they a ticking time bomb? For sure.
Also consider that some peoples version of "wheeling" is a lot different than others. I play on rocks in the Midwest, which means the tires are damp at times, and need a little wheel spin to get traction. If you play on different terrain, and wheel on more gentle trails, it could last a while.
The HP30 though, can last with 37's and low gearing if you are kind and sink some money into it.
I ran one with Chromo axles, ARB and 4.88's. I could break u joints on command when I put the 4.3:1 Atlas in, where I never had breakage before. I dropped some Yukon Super Joints in it, and it was fine after that. I probably had too much money in it at the time, but it worked and came on the rig.
A Ford 8.8 can be had cheap, and there is a reason it is a very popular swap in Jeeps that had a 35 out back.

Thats what I'm working on. Building an 8.8 and Waggy 44, both fully trussed with 4.88 gears and chromos, 44 locked.
