what trans to swap into tj

im lookin to get a new transmission to swap into my jeep tj after i trashed the ax15. i plan on movin up to 37's shortly so i wanted to get something a little more heavy duty. its not a daily driver anymore so that opens up some options. any help would be appreciated

I would go with the NV3550 out of a newer TJ which is basically bolt in, or an NV4500 out of a Chevy or Dodge pick up. More work, requires new bellhousing, and other stuff. Obviously more $$$, but at the very least go NV3550. Very solid transmission, and are decently inexpensive.

But I'm curious how you destroyed an AX15. With the right gearing (and with 4.88's you're spot on) it shouldn't be under any more stress.

just so happens that there came to be a little bit of water that somehow got into the trans. it took out all the syncros and ate a couple of gears
