What's wrong with my rear?!

...axle, that is...

There's a rhythmic sound emanating from my rear end - not sure what exactly it is, although I do have a theory! It varies with speed and is consistent, regardless of clutch in/out, accelerating/decelerating, etc.

My rear end is a Dana 44 with 35 inch MT/R tires, mounted to a 98 TJ 4.0. From listening to this sound recording (below), what's your guess as to what is wrong? Like I said, I think I know from the sound (and the history of the jeep) what's wrong, but would like someone else to back me up before I start taking things apart!

Recording of the rear end at various speeds:

I had to laugh at that one haha.

Noise recordings usually don't transfer very well, I could barely tell there was a noise at all. If its rhythmic like you said I would probably assume its driveline balance or angle problem, possible a cupped or bad tire.
