I am planning on converting my 2.5 engine, and auto trans to a Chevy 4.3 and trans. can anyone tell me what my 2.5 would be worth after I completely rebuild it, to sell?

Worth scrap metal unless someone has more money than sense to be honest.

I know people have an idea of what stuff SHOULD be worth. There is a catch though, its only worth what the next idiot is willing to pay for it.

My 4cyl was about 300k and running fine. But for the rebuild kit and machine work i could have obtained far more power. So like you i went chevy.
Nobody is gonna pay you any reasonable amount if you do the math.
Rebuild Kit $400
Machine work $400
Labor for the actual assembly $???
Already a thousand plus dollars.

So one has options. A buy a crate engine with 100k/7yr warranty $1200
B buy a complete drivetrain and or donor vehicle like i did and rebuild it ($1400 for Eng/trans/tcase all rebuilt)
C Buy your engine for $1,XXX

Its not worth your dollar to try to profit from it IMO.

Aren't you going to need your tcase though? The np231 should be plenty tough enough for your needs.

Regarding the price, I would just put it on CL and state that they can come hear it run and drive it around, I would let it go for a couple hundred for the pair. Take less if needed.
We all have so much stuff lying around the shop already don't we ?

if it's a 4 cyl I believe all of them came 21 spline output so it will likely be a task to find or have made a proper adaptive shaft. On the other hand if he finds a wrecked s10/blazer or Chevy 1500 all is included.

Way I see it any adapter is going to run $500. Then an engine and trans is another $500+. In the long run $1000-1500 on a wrecked truck with decent engine, trans, tcase, wiring, computer, etc is well worth the dollar.
