What Dana 60 or 14 bolt will fit an LJ Unlimited Rubicon

I am trying to find axles to purchase, I was wondering how to figure out what Dana 60 or 14 bolt will fit my 2006 LJ Unlimited Rubicon. I have come across numerous axles but they are from all kinds of different trucks like chevy, dodge, ford ...... SO how do I procede...what fits best and also what is one wheel vs 2 wheel axle for example I found the following two axles:
(1) '85 Chevy Dana 60 Front Axle. Single wheel with lockout hubs. (2) '85 Chevy 14 Bolt Rear Axle has rear disc brakes.
Will these fit ? also whats the one wheel vs two wheel?
HELP!!!!!!

neither one of these axles will fit, they are almost 10" wider than what you have right now, they are 8 lug, and you have a 4 link suspension where these are set-up for leaf spring.

now if you are willing to do some fabrication, get new wheels, and install full width axles then the rear axle should work... the front probably wont. Chevy uses passenger side drop axles. unless you wish to change your t-case a chevy axle wont work. look into a ford D60 those are normally the best finds out there. Also single vs dual wheel, means that the truck was just a single rear tire vs a dual rear tire. if it was a dual then it will have a different hub. Not a huge deal, if the price is right then jump on it either way and deal with it later.

What size tire are you wanting to run. If you run the 37's you have now with a 14 bolt you will be dragging the diff around everywhere.

Well I was gonna keep it on the 37's for now and then later switch over to 42's.
Can't I shave the pumkin down on the 14 bolt to allow for better clearance?

I have been doing some research. How's the compatibility of the following with the LJ ?

Front Axle: 1979 Ford HP Dana 60

Rear Axle: 1987 Gm 14 bolt

Yep, you can shave about 1" off from the bottom of the 14 bolt.

Well you will have to fab the steering and the mounts. I guess if you can do that you could make most axles work, granted the drop is correct. When you start looking at D60's and above you are either looking at Currie, or Dynatrac, or major fab work.

I think the majority of people here will tell you the same.

There is no compatibility whatsoever.

No matter what non-available-as-stock axles you want, the same basic stuff has to happen:

You redo ALL the suspension mounts on the axle and ideally frame too because it's stupid to keep the stock suspension with axles that big(and tires that fit them), and then you have to do something about steering because for one thing the stock pitman arm doesn't have enough throw to turn a D60. I have a Wagoneer pitman arm which is about 1" or so longer than stock. Also plan on needing to cut the steering box mount off and move it up and flatten it out or else everything will hit if you want high-steer. Then that big *** 14 bolt will not fit in the back easily without doing something about the fuel tank. An LJ MIGHT be different as you may not feel the need to stretch it but I'm sitting at like 8" longer WB than an LJ and it feels right on the road and looks good and proportionate for 40s IMO. If you want tires that big plan on getting either an Atlas t-case or a D300 and flip it(or not if you use passenger drop axles like I did) because the 231 is a weak chain driven POS. If you have 1 tons the ability to go into LO range RWD or FWD only would be nice. Plan on cutting up lots of crap too to make stuff fit.

Take a look at my build thread if you like, I built my Jeep with Chevy axles that you were talking about in your first post. It's not ideal, but possible. As long as you don't want to build a stupid-low-LCG rig(like less than 2" lift on 40s for instance) you can make it work. I've got roughly 4.5" lift + 1.25" BL on 1 tons and 40s.
