went to the junk yard...
I saw about 10000 axles today how do i tell the difference between them? im looking for a D44 and a ford 8.8 but i really cant tell can someone help out.

Ford 8.8:
![]() If there is a tag under one of the diff cover bolts, it will help you identify the axle. An 8.8 and 7.5 look very similar other than the fact the 7.5 is smaller. This is what a Ford tag looks like (obviously it will say 8.8 for the ring gear diameter if its an 8.8): ![]() And here's a Dana 44: ![]() Here's a good link that shows pictures of many axles: http://www.coloradok5.com/axleguide.shtml
