Video showing how Diff's work

I was trying to explain to my wife why I need to drop a load of money on locking diff...didn't go so well. However, in the process I had to explain to her how a differential worked. I tried using all sorts of stuff found around the house but at the end resorted to the internet. I found this video on YouTube...it is perfect. It's from the 50's, but the principle hasn't changed. The first 2mins are stupid, but after that it's all meat.

That was an awesome breakdown of the concept of differential gearing, sandwiched between some very strange displays of acrobatic prowess.

Still working on it! Her arguement is that I shouldn't be driving where I would need the lockers.

I feel your pain, I've been through the same argument.

why would you need to drop a "load" of money for a locker?
you can get one for 200 bucks. or is that too much for you??

That video was very informative for newbies and old gear heads.

Very informational.

Hey, Victor McLaglen in the first 2 minutes was cool! I think they still are around. Nice riding.

I think the kids would love to have those add on wheel extenders on the Jeep to run on.
