V8 TJ -- C8.25 swap?

Okay, so. I've slowly been accumulating the necessary parts for a gen 3 sbc swap. Adapter, motor mounts, etc. I just found a 4.8 for cheap with 100k on it that should be mine in the next couple of days. I have a parts 98 xj that suffered a roll over a few years ago. It has a C8.25 in the rear, which if I'm not mistaken is the 29 spline.

My question, knowing that they're comparable to, and sometimes stronger than a d44, is that axle worth putting under my TJ with a 285-310 hp v8 up front? (hp rating depending on the mods I do to the motor over the winter:2thumbsup:)

I have to buy the mounting brackets to weld to just about any axle I upgrade to, I just wanna make sure I'm not gunna grenade the thing after all the trouble of fitting it. My jeep sees some light to medium duty trails on occasion but is mostly a daily driver. Currently has a d35 and 33"s so I know it's days are numbered regardless lol

any feedback would be great. Thanks!:cheers2:

Be smart and it will stay together fine. Hopping and skinny pedal will prove detrimental to many axles.

Yeah, from what I've seen in all the videos of guys snappin Dana 35s, they're usually hoping around and it's one last bounce that snaps the axle... Just wondering if its worth putting a c8.25 under there with all the work and money involved

Sorry I was vague in that post. I mean go for the 8.25 and just be smart with it and you will be okay I think. Like I said stupidity will trash most any axle, but the 8.25 is a good piece. Be sure it is the 29 spline though.

Okay thanks for the advice. This probably won't be happening until spring anyways... Finishing up a frame swap and its getting too cold to keep going haha
