You do realize that the law suit and information was from 20 years ago right?

We got the part about precision being a "Name only" it is a NAPA house brand, that DOES NOT change the FACT that the U joints stamped USA are in fact MADE IN THE USA, whether FM, Moog, Dewy Cheatem and Howe makes the forgings doesn't change the fact that the Ujoints are maade in the USA.
I have a Special Needs daughter so I am used to having to repeat myself over and over, but you are friggin retarded.

I am waiting for you to try and explain away the plant in IL and MI...
Becaue if yo are right, they are in violation of SEVERAL FTC regs and federal law. What seems to be more likely, you have a bias for the parts you use, heard some stuff from a guy your buddy knows or one of the largest vehicle pars MFGR is violating the law. not just a slap on the wrist law either. Because it is an automotive part, there are severe penalties both civil and criminal for violations of the Tariff and Customs act. You know in the many links I have provided backing up my position. You are engaged in hearsay and is what some legal types would call slander and defamation.

Provide citation and documentation to substantiate your claims. Ray Charles can see that you are grasping at straws and he is both blind AND dead...

I am not going to reread all this. But I did overlook it.

I can add (maybe its posted here already?) that the Dana/spicer 5-153x (most common ujoint ever used on a Jeep - Driveshaft 1310 joint) is now labeled as "Made In China". Isnt that horrible. I do know that Neapco does offer a stronger USA Made alt to the 1310 (153x) ujoint.

I do still see made in the USA on the 760 axle ujoints though.

The df 1310 cross is made by spicer at there plant in china, the needles are made in the va plant and the caps are either from Sc or Oh plant, DS has 17 plants in the US but DS has always had plants all over to escape the US out of control requirements, DS has plants in Ger, Bra, Mex, ITl, Jap, Aus, Can, AF they have to many to list really.
There may be a few series that are made by the neapco brand that are made in the US and find there way into Fm boxes, but they all aren't made here and the same goes for even neapco, i have seen even the neapco brand suddenly be identical in every way to one of the 4 china companies making joints, and that also holds true for Fm, the big 1480 series joints i have seen neapco in those boxes and then the china cam joints or the ns forgings, same with the 1310, 1330, 1350 ser and some other conv joints, and even some of them were marked usa on them and then some had the other companies stamp on the otherside.

However the joints from Fm Moog aren't made in Il or Mi, and AGAIN Fm makes nothing they source and stuff boxes and print labels, they are using joints from a few suppliers and they aren't from here, and again you may come across some of the neapco joints boxed in Fm's stuff that are made here and even many other joints neapco has aren't made here, and neapco is another company getting into sourcing. WE understand sourcing, sourcing is some other place makes something the way they want to and they buy it and put it in there box.
As for federal penalties for violating the law i have shown OUR wondeful govt that parts our US companies make here and are being pirated by US vendors here taking them and sending those parts to china companies to be reverse engineered and copied and some are even counterfitted and OUR wonderful govt is and has done nothing, this is now going on for more than 10 years. So im sure our wonderful govt will do anything about saying made in the usa.

Here we seen his pics and now these, again see a difference

Now whats really funny about this entire thread is that sh!tz own driveline shop said to him ""They told me that a lot of the issues people have are from out of spec U joints and that they have found some of the "Made in the USA" to have as bad of specs as the Chinese ones.""

Here is whats funny, THEY are the china joints, and they apparently aren't paying attention to the rest of the joints detail and see that.

Now whats different ABOUT the same 1410 series joint out of the SAME Fm precision pos box here i posted and the one that sh!tz has pictured above....

When i have time i'll get the other 2 joints to compare....

If It is stamped USA on the cross, the cross has to be actually MADE IN THE USA. THAT IS THE LAW.

So you are basing your "made in China" off of what?
If it has forging marks that say USA, it has the be done in the USA or it is violating the law and you had better believe that they UNIONS would be all over that.

Really, the unions aren't all over the pirating . . . and like i said the govt isn't doing anything against the pirating that is coming from china, seems china does it and it gets a free pass.
Like your own shop said when they removed the junk you had gotten from the china store, if they pay attention and look closer they'll see the same metal, the same parts with the same dimensions and same poor quality issues.

I base it off of having the 3 china made joint companies and then seeing they all match the big chain parts stores reboxed stuff in everyway, you are really holding onto the usa thing having any merit, even with the same 1410 not matching your pics, from the same boxing company.

You believe what you want, apparently your local driveline company is onto it, they just aren't getting to involved to see the exact issue.
.

As for the law, printing usa on something isn't nearly as bad as you taking someone elses part and having it reverse engineered in a plant in shanghai china, stealing it and then selling it to people here at less than the real one and saying its the same thing....
I haven't seen anyone thats doing that go to court or even the govt start lifting a finger to stop it from getting out of customs.

You'll learn that usa on something is way different than it having made in the usa, the usa on the casting isn't going to hold water when they say oh thats to designate they are ours, it doesn't say made in the usa on the cross, funny how some can find the room to put all that on the casting and others can't.

the label says it, and it was printed here and affixed at time of boxing it

[QUOTE=dougiefresh131;15748543]Need some quick help. I'm replacing my U joints and when I was pressing out the joint I seem to have damaged the yoke from where the joint was pressed too far and made a slight grove in the yoke. Is this something I can just file down or no? Thanks

Yeah, not a big deal. Happens almost every time. File it with a pigtail file.

I filmed changing my u-joints and posted three videos of different ways to change a u-joint; hammer, vise and arbor press.
