transfer case noise, help please!!!

I have a 98 jeep wrangler, i recently noticed that there is a repeated noise coming from the rear of the transfer case, the slower i am moving the slower the noise the faster the faster the noise, sounds like a pop and grind every rotation, i have new u joints and when i got under today and turned the driveshaft and heard it come from the transfer case, any ideas?????

Loose chain most likely They stretch and can be replaced

thanks ill check into that tommorow, it just doesnt feel safe to drive with all that noise

Remove the case and open it up. Thats the only way to know what it is. I agree dont drive it you will only make it worse
