timing chain and sprocket?
i am rebuilding a 1990 wranler 4.2 and have thought about installing a double roller timing chain. the reason why i am asking the question of what other companies that anyone may know of that sells one for cheaper than $135 or what other single rollers would be very strong and where to get them? i don't want the sprockets busting like the stock one did. thanks for the help.

hey, i`m rebuilding my 89 4.2 and found a high-tech high performance set for 45.00 which i didn`t think was bad at all. that`s if you have an autozone there. let us know what you find

Thats really really funny!!
actually today i went down to Autozone and ordered the Hi-tech timing chain. I was hoping if you could tell me what kind it is. like a true single roller, a double roller or what? i figured if it wasn't what i wanted then i could return it. Thanks for the help.

just checkin
well...here`s the deal. i ordered it thinking it would be in the day before i built my engine. well, it wasn`t, so i called them.. apparently the factory that it was ordered from cancelled the request for an unknown reason. they reordered it and it was in the next day. i was excited as h$ll about it. i opened it and BAM it was the exact same one that i had just taken out. it seems very heavy duty. not a double roller, but a wide single roller. i think that i`m going to compare the taughtness of the two and decide whether i`m going to keep it or not. everywhere that i tried for the double roller was back ordered anyway. i can`t see myselft paying for that much anyway. speaking of which, i have a post in the engines section you might want to look at and let me know what you think. let me know what you find out and hope everything goes according to your plan cause i know mine isn`t!

yep
my timing chain came in yesterday and when I opened the box in just about said something real loud. it looks just like the stock one but with out the teflon teeth. my 4.2 is coming out of a 90 wrangler. i asked the guy behind the counter to get me a "stock" one that they had. he brought it and it was the same crank gear. even the same cast. so after all that i returned my ordered HI-tech crap and bought the other. because like you i don't have $140 bucks to waste on another part. im happy with it thought at least the gear teeth are metal. thats why i am rebuilding it, because the teflon teeth busted. i will check out your other post. catch ya later.
