Tempature

At what temp should my 87 Cherokee with the 4.0 run. And what is too cold.

About 205* on the gauge.

Without verifying if you guage and/or sender are reading correctly, you should see somewhere between 190-210.

Replace your thermostat with a 195* one. I prefer the original ones from Jeep since I've had problems with the aftermarket ones. Even made in USA name brands. Jeep part number is 83501426.

Thats pretty low even with a stuck open thermostat. I would probably start with a thermostat but would be questioning the accuracy of the guage too.
