Hi all,
I have a 94 4l cherokee. steering box was replaced 3ish years ago (clanking) all been fine until recently... the steering seems to have gone light (not wrong, just light) should I worry?

Sorry all,
Does the light steering issue ring any alarm bells, sorry to ask but the car is used to carry my family around

When you say light do you mean loose? Or hard to turn or is it too easy to turn? Does it drive straight or is it wandering?
Is there a lot of play in the steering wheel

Hey, thanks for the reply, nope it just seems really easy to steer no real play just a very light steering action, all fine on a straight motorway. .. any ideas? (I've had her for over 10 years and she hasn't ever felt like this) p.s. local garage had a look and said all seems fine.

If there's real play or wandering or noises then I would think it is ok.
You can always take it to another shop like an alignment shop for a second opinion.

Check the tire pressure first. Did someone fill the tires to MAX pressure instead of recommended pressure?

Hey guys, thanks for the reply... no wandering, clanks or anything I'll try a local tyre shop (they are good & trustworthy with tracking etc) I'll get back to you if I make any headway

So... If the steering damper was shot, what would the symptoms be (I have no death wobble)?
Thanks in advance
