I had trouble with my starter a month or so ago, but it went away. I hit a dead spot in my starter twice, but after I got the engine started, I would turn the key to start and the starter would pop out (not turn) and my engine would rotate it away from the dead spot. I took out my ac today, but I think thats a coincidence. After I tried to start up my jeep all the electric stuff worked, but the starter wouldn't even pop out, much less rotate. I pop started my jeep, and drove it around, but I couldn't get the starter to pop out so I could rotate it. I want to know how I can check the wiring to the starter before I buy a new one. And what I can do to fix these problems if it is indeed wiring. Thanks so much for helping me. Since my jeep in my only car I really need to get it working again. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Removing the starter is easy - take it to Autozone or some place like that and they will test the starter for you. That wont neccesarily test your wiring but will at least eliminate any question in regard to the starter itself.
